Glaswegian on tour!

Recommended Posts

Fortunately for me, my wife is in the middle of a lot of exams over the next fortnight and as a result I've used that excuse to give her peace and quiet this weekend so she can study, allowing me to head down south and catch the game.

For a mere £35 return I'm able to get a return bus from Glasgow to London (leave fri night, arrive 6.30am at Victoria, then leave at 10pm Sat night to head back north).

Haven't the faintest idea where Bromley is - will check when I get back home (at work now).

Hopefully I'll be able to meet some of you guys down there. Are you all meeting at a pub in Bromley beforehand, or do they have a club at their ground?

Colin...What a fantastic effort mate!

We will be heading from the ground on coaches so i guess two options here.

1) come down to New Lodge (if you can) and come with us lot. We Will be at the ground by 11 (or whatever time our bar may open)

2) At Bromleys ground we tend to use the bar in their ground. We have always used the one at pitch level, but they do have another up in the main stand too.

For your info, if travelling from Victoria Station the train you need to catch is to BROMLEY SOUTH STATION. Hayes Lane is about a 10-15 minute walk from there (but in a cab max 5 mins) (about 3/4 mile)

Top effort !

I'll be going to Bromley on the train will be arriving about 10.30am as Keith said it's only 15 mins train from Victoria so you won't have to mess about on the tubes,As for pubs there are several bang in the middle of the town away from the ground 2 next to station The Slug and Lettuce as you look right and over the road on the left is a big new bar called The Metro i think so will be in there for opening, also one called The Tigers Head but that don't open till 12.

6.30 is early so i suggest some sight seeing for a couple of hours loads of rubbish to see in London.

Have a good trip down.

See the rest of you boys and girls on Saturday grin

Keith mate - can't wait for the game. Just remember, I have a 100% winning record at Ricay games - not even 100% unbeaten record - but a 100% winning record!

Now, when you look beyond the statistics, then fair play, in theory, I've only been to one game, and it was at home. However, the record is still intact and here's hoping it continues.

If I had half a brain, I'd go straight to Bromley from Victoria as that would be much easier, but as I've got so much time to kill, and since I know the way, if you guys dont mind I'll just tag along from the Lodge.

Last time we left the ground, we had to go to Victoria in order to get a bus back to Luton airport - and there was a good wetherspoons pub at the station. My plan is to go back to the pub at Victoria first thing Sat morning and kill an hour over a massive greasy breakfast (Glasgow style!). Then get tube to Liverpool and train to Billericay. I'm assuming I'd be there for around 9ish. I'd walk about the town centre for an hour and a half or so then head to the ground for 11ish.

As Posted on another thread:

"The match will NOT be all-ticket, the ground capacity at Bromley is comfortably over 3,000...... To assist this, a limited number of advanced tickets are being made available to supporters of both clubs. We would emphasise that this is solely to ease congestion at the turnstiles. Tickets priced at £8 Adults and £4 all concessions will go on sale at the club from 7pm tomorrow evening and will include both ground and stand tickets."

Not a problem Colin. Will reserve a place on bus for you!
And seeing as you are making this effort the least i can do is pay for your coach seat.

You WILL now HAVE to join THE BLUE ARMY on the terraces and be prepared for a full on sing song!! guitar

P.S. Safe journey down.

That would be great Keith thanks. Sing song sounds great as does joining The Blue Army on the terraces - I already have my top and scarf looked out, even though it will probably be aorund 20 degrees!

Someone however must explain the whole concept of the shoe army to me - its gone way over my head. (though having seen the pic on another thread, it does look very amusing!). Naturally it's not something I've ever witnessed a game before!

Your incredibly basic routines fit in with me very nicely. Its just so happens that the mere concept of tying shoelaces is beyond me - hence why I wear laceless (if that's even a word) trainers. Therefore removing them will not be an issue.

Though the sheer stench coming from that area upon said removal of trainers may have the rest chanting for me to put them back on!!!

ClydeFan, the fact you are coming all the way down for this makes you a legend - I'm sure you will fit in with the Shoe Army perfectly!

With the warm weather coming our way for Saturday I suggest filp flops - for easy removal!
