'Ere we go

Rather than worrying about who he wants to keep, I suspect Liam will be more concerned with who wants to stay, then work from there.

I will doubtless be proved wildly wrong, but I cannot help feeling that the following will chose to persue their careers elswhere:

Charlie Mac

Onome Sodje

George Purcell

Mark DeBolla

Sam Mott

Joe Howe

Jack Roberts

Alex Varney

Chukki Eribenne

Rob Quinn.

Debolla looked thoroughly fed up as he slung his kitbag back into the bus when he found out he wasn't in the 16.

Mott needs games not bench work.

Can we afford a full time reserve keeper - especially when we get a loanee in when Lance gets injured?

Howe, Purcell, Sodje and Varney simply do not start enough games.

No 18 year old likes being told he is betting coming off the bench.

One thing that has emerged this season is that a good big 'un will invariably beat a good little 'un.

We found that out when we won the Rymans with what can be described as the physically strongest footballing side ever to grace stonebridge Road.

Packed with 6 footers.

Played effective football, and my goodness, won 70% of the arial stuff and 60 of tackles.

Had a lot of skill and pace too.

Whilst I am not advocating the wholesale clearout of any player less than 5'10", it is certainly food for though.

I always found, when I played, a small winger(as they were called then) was far harder to control than a tall one. Lower centre of gravity, quicker to turn you. As for physical, I can show you scars that little people inflicted on my legs, and most of them are on the back!

A balanced team of tall and short is the answer.
