Flamstead/MK Scot

Recommended Posts

I see Flamstead have had all there remaining games postponed, I presume they have also withdrawn from the league then (and another three points down the pan!).

I also hear that MK Scot want to still participate in the SSML Division Two again next season, now I know sometimes things happen beyond your control but I can't help but feel that if you withdraw during a season then you shouldn't be allowed in the next, or am I being harsh?

Obviously that would work out in our favour, but Im not a fan of awarding points and it seems unfair on those who have already played them. Then again what else can you do if a team pulls out, either award points or expunge the teams records, which I also hate (and not just because I had spent a lot of time re-doing all my stats after MK Scot pulled out grin ) and thats why I think that if a team withdraws then they shouldn't be allowed back the following season as that would be a suitable punishment.

Speaking to a bloke at work (a SSML ref) he was saying that Scot had withdrawn previously, it would seem that they done it before the season started last time so it will be interesting to see what the SSML Committee do.

I think the problem for the SSML committee will be will they have enough teams for div 2 if they start stopping teams re-applying next year.

I actually agree with you if you pull out then you are out, and you should start applying to your local county league, but viable league numbers will be the stumbling block for the committee if they want to be firm.

I read on the officail SSML site (the January minutes) that they are considering dropping Division Two to 16 teams, which wouldn't bode well for MK Scot or Flamstead I wouldn't have thought.

How easy it would be to add numbers to Division Two is another matter, there is no promotion into it, and litle chance of a Division One team being relegated then its almost a league within a league. Any team wishing to join the SSML and with a decent ground criteria would possibly go straight into Div 1, but on the other hand Tring Corinthians and Aston Clinton applied to join a couple of seasons ago and I know of a couple of Luton sides who have been turned down so I presume there is some demand there.

This was a post made by another on his own site just half an hour ago, he should know:

"Flamstead have indeed resigned from the SSM2. It has yet to decided if their record is expunged or the remaining games awarded to their opponents. This late in the season, it will probably be the latter".

Exactlty HTFCew, any teams with floodlights in Division 2 were "promoted" irespective of their league position a couple of seasons ago, such as Cranfield (7th), Kentish Town (10th) and Amersham Town (16th) and as such the teams in there are because there grounds are not good enough to qualify for a higher level which does almost make it a league in itself.

Should a team get floodlights I wonder if they would be automatically promoted, or would they have to finish in a promotion place.
