Congratulations to all the players, management and committee at Cockfosters after they deservedly gained promotion to the Premier division. As they say, the league doesn't lie and while Brimsdown were head and shoulders above the rest, The Super Reds were undoubtedly the next best thing.

And, of course, comiserations to Stony and Ampthill and all the other also rans.

What a day at Cranfield. At 3 o'clock any of the 2nd,3rd or 4th placed teams could have ended the day as runners-up to Brimsdown. The mobiles were red-hot as half-time news that Brimsdown were leading 3-1 at Ampthill. With only a goal diff of two to defend against Stony Stratford we had them to worry about as well. Early in the second half the physio was despatched to Stony to check on their progress and he relayed that they were 3-1 up. Not good for those of a nervous disposition(me). Final whistle a 3-0 win, news that Brimsdown had won 4-1, and Stony were unable to improve on their 3-1 after twice hitting the post.

Now that's what I call a tight finish. All back to Chalk Lane for a nice quiet drink. (I lie like a cheap watch). Cheers.... Bloody brilliant.

Not taking anything away from your achievement but you could have hardly had an easier final game, also with Ampthill Town at home to Brimsdown you must have thought all your Christmas's had come at once.

My understanding was that throughout the season each team plays each other twice. Maybe Ampthill, Brimsdown and Stony had their easier games at some other time. Who knows? But thankks for not detracting from the achievment.

That's alright and good luck for next season if you do get up. I'm sure you will be the first to admit that you didn't do it the pretty way and often simply ground out results however I suppose 1-0 wins still get the same number of points at the end of the day.

Reds76 - Did you ever answer the question as to how you only recently found out about this Forum. I am genuinely pleased for Cockfosters however I thought there was some doubt about chalk Lane meeting Premier Division criteria as it's only three sided.
