Who stays and who goes?

No matter how good a player is not everyone is going to be for him.The same applies to not so gifted players. Some will like & some will not.It occurs in everyday life too Tony.Sometimes no matter how much one might try to please some will prefer not to like the goodness in that person, for whatever reason.

Think back to the days of Phil Collins.Disliked by many(not all) in his first season, but turned it round & used it to his advantage in his second season..Got himself fit & was determined to prove his critics wrong. He did exactly that & ended up being loved by ALL.

He was a typical example of how NOT to let negative opinions of him(or rather his play)get to a player. No-one got more stick than he in his first year but he stuck with it. He then used that to better himself & came out on top with flying colours.

Not everyone likes everyone tell him.

I don't see nothing wrong with Porka starting up this thread to be honest. The people that have said who they want in and out are only expressing their views in the best interest of the club, we don't want players here that are not good enough for this team it does not mean that they are rubbish players, it just means that they are not good enough for this team.

There is no point getting personal with it either and if you don't like this thread don't read it. Simple as that.

I think Lee Protheroes days as a footballer are now over, the last few months of the season he has been far from his best and i can't see him playing regular first team football for us next season.

Proths was ill about 5 weeks ago and Satnden got the nod and has been playing well. To say that his playing days are over is the most bolox thing I have ever heard !....Was he captain before Mckimm....Oh yer think he was !

Yer but that doesnt mean to say his playing days are over ? I agree he hasnt been playing to his best but surely he is good enough to stay with MFC. Thats if he wants to ? And more importantly can we afford him, as I think he is one of the top earners ?

Did i just read someone say forums are all about opinions?

Made my year, but as ive stated these youngsters will be the backbone of your team for years to come, give them a chance, id rather have have younger players giving there all, than established players not giving a toss

alex so you think you saying proths is past it is not personnal or is that only brought up when it suits you. The trouble is you are all guilty of getting personal every time you make comments about players on this forum. You think that is ok just because they play for the team you support. I don't think anyone has the right to slag people off on an open forum do you.

Age does not make you a good or bad footballer it is your current ability that does. If no one took the risk on Duncan Edwards, Pele, Or kenny Dalgish would they still be floundering in the reserves. If someone told Mathews and Sheringham they were to old would they have retired earlier.

Getting back quickly to the reserve debate, surely it shows how far our club has come in the past season if we are in a position to debate whether our reserve players can come into the first team, an option we did not have at all a year ago.

Personally in my view (and I admit while I write this that I have not been able to make it to a reserve game yet and am judging on first team showings), the lads who have come up into the first team have on the whole impreseed me. I feel that at some times a few have been inconsistent, but I understand with the bad winter weather this was due to not getting games under their belts.

Overall, I would keep the lads on as improvement will undoubtedly come with experience, along with the chance to learn from those in the squad who already have the experience already. It aslso shows others in the reserves that theer is a chance to break into the first team.
