Who stays and who goes?

Trouble is Tony I totally agree with ya but its called football and iam afraid there is a small percent of Margate supporters that seem very cynical.

I have often tried posting positive posts on threads when the chips were down, trouble is some supporters want it all THERE way !

We are all human beings & we should all know & accept that we all do things differently, show our emotions differently & act differently.

Its about time people realised this. Some don't spout off because they intentionally wish to make things worse, far from it.They are merely expressing their views in the way that they have been brought up to do but some cant always assume that to be quiet & say nothing will always bring about an improvement either.Either way it shouldnt make anyone any less of a person than the other.

What we here at Margate, fanswise,CAN say is that we ALL want the same thing for the club. Now that IS something that us MARGATE humans SHOULD be able to agree on at least.Success, good results & good performances. These things aren't always going to come to us but thats where human nature & differences kick in.

Some humans are more tolerant than others. Lets not get at those that are different from ourselves or others. Its life, its human reaction, its the way we are. Freedom to say what you feel & how to show it should be acceptable by others because LIFE IS LIKE THAT!. HUMANS ARE LIKE THAT!

Now how about us all getting back to the theme of this thread but carry on disagreeing if need be but with in a more healthier, understanding & more tolerant manner.

Can see what you are saying Tony but if some of those players are reading this, esp those that haven't played much this season, how do you think they feel? I am all for criticism too but as I have said before it should be CONSTRUCTIVE not DESTRUCTIVE. My view on the matter is, and I am sure I will be shot down in flames here, the ones who I heard moaning the most on Saturday (and I agree we did not perform) were those who had a bet on the club at start of season, maybe thats some of the problem imo.

I'm sure thats not the reason behind peoples dismay of Saturdays performance I think that all that those people wanted(I wasn't happy either)was to see an honest & acceptable effort all round no matter what the result..That wasn't forthcoming on Saturday & to be fair & honest here I think some have a right to be disgruntled with it all on Saturday. Those that maybe are not as vocal now about it probably felt exacatly the same.

The human factor therefore comes into it again that people are different in their manner whether it be for in showing their disgust or in celebrating.

I dont believe ONE single person that went Saturday really believed we were going to get into the play-offs because it wasnt in our hands to do so & despite it being a possibility the odds(excuse the expression) were stacked against it.Those people KNEW that whatever, they were willing to see the last game no matter what. They just feel let down & thats all it was in real terms.

(Incidentally I personally didn't stake any mortgage on us going up this year.I Didnt have one left to use as stake money.l.o.l.) wink laugh

I am actually going by comments made on the coach home Tony. Somebody actually said he lost a load of money because of them not performing!

Gotcha! Fair enough, but I STILL cant believe that was a reason for ANYONE slating the poor performance.Besides we couldn't possibly have WON the league no matter how well they performed & odds were only being quoted for winning the league or e.w 1-2-3 anyway. No odds for getting into the play-offs were given by any bookmaker.

Still they had a very good run for their money didnt they!. Lets face it they wouldnt have had they backed Slough would they? l.o.l.

One last thing. If the players do look in here as is more than likely then its a shame they didnt take the "positives" into the game with them, the ones that we ALL gave them on the "good luck thread" eh?

Yes even the "negative" ones amongst us gave a "positive" on that thread especially to try & help them on the day. Seems being positive dosent always helps sometimes either.

The thread isn't destructive IMO. It's about who goes to free up budget for new blood. I wanted to get some debate going as to who us fans think should be retained and where we can strengthen.

Of course!. You came up with a good topic Porka.A slight veering off the subject I agree but back on track again now I hope.

I heard that this Wednesday was the day players would know if they were to be released or not. Anyone else hear this?

We not talking about the players that played and did'nt perform we talking about players who did'nt play and havent played much this year. There the ones who suffer with your let them go threads. You know who I'm talking about cookie. Put it another way, look at the thread your started about the Dover youngsters you contradict yourself all the time.

I dont think so. Asking for Trotty to sign those guys was more tongue-in-cheek than of expectation Tony,if thats what you are talking off. My point was to highlight the attacking flair on the day,the approach to the game & the attitude of the players in that that game.I thought I had made that clear more than once, though maybe I should have entitled my thread "How to be Committed" rather than naming a player. That WAS an error I agree. Walker was the highlight of that forceful play & thats why I gave him headlines.

Look, I have no problem with any reserve being promoted if he's good enough.I haven't seen enough of their games to form much of an opinion really on who is decent & who isnt. But I take the word of those who have been involved with the youngsters, those such as yourself who has a son in amongst them.I reserve judgement on them though until I actually see them play.I saw Allen on one occasion & he didnt impress me whatsoever. But that dosent mean he's bad.I maybe just caught him on an off day.

There must be something there though for him to be called up to 1st team squad. If they are good enough put them in I have no problems with that at all.It dosent mean we should ignore other more proven, young & gifted players too though if they become available.(Not talking of Walker specifically with that comment either in case you thought I was contradicting myself again).

I'm on your side here if you hadnt noticed.

Cookie its Porka I'm more f-cked of with his the one who started this thread on who he thinks should go or stay.

I just feel we as supporters write these threads thinking it doe'nt affect the players reading them. In some cases thats probabley true judging by all your write ups about the Hendon game. But put yourself in Dan Wiskers position he has been going training up london twice a week all season started the preseason playing every game and doing quite well so Trotty signs him on. he plays the first few games and works his [****!!****] off. Then nothing for months and then comes on in the FA cup at Whitstable when we are 1-0 down and changes the game and we win 2-1. Then doent start another game. Still every Tues and Thurs Finishes work at 5-30 and still manages to rush to Training week in week out. Still he is 100% comitted to Margate waiting for his oppertunity playing a few reserve games still with 100% comitment then some pr-ck (porka) puts up on a thread "to go" Wisker. What would you feel on seeing that.

I've come up to see the reserves whenever possible and have seen a fair bit of your son playing and in my mind he's not Ryman standard. Maybe send him out on loan to a lower league club next season if he stays. Trotty is the one that makes these decisions, we all know that.

I think the point I would like to make on this is...We have Wisker, Baggers, Smith etc...The youngsters/Res of MFC. When they are giving a chance weather they perform or not they are put down the pecking order for the next match ! This is why we had Holden, Dolly leaving the club...they took there chances but never was givin a long spell in the team. Then we have supporters that moan like bugger when these players leave.

But Danny not getting into the side is not down to Porka or I or his thread Tony.I sympathise with your frustrations & Dannys. If it were my son I would be just as frustrated about it as you are. His ommission is down to the manager though & no-one else.

Asking people who they prefer to stay or not stay I dont think is unreasonable at this stage in the footballing calendar..I would think its being asked all over the country by many fans at many clubs..Its only peoples personal thoughts & it shouldn't be taken that those that are mentioned by some as not being up to it are thought of as being such by others.

If Trotty re-signs him that would be the biggest compliment of all to him I would have thought. If not maybe it might be better for him & for own your frustrations for him to ply his trade elswehere as at least he would then be getting games on a more regular basis.Hold fire to see how Trotty sees things before having him get too disheartened.

Whatever happens whether it be with this club or another he has risen in the ranks from previous & has acquitted himself well when called upon & that will go down well on his CV & any club would be foolish not to have taken note of these factors.

Thank goodness it's not up to us, but to the manager.

Can you imagine with such a group of supporters with such disparate views on how the team could be constituted, how any majority could ever be happy with whatever is done?

However, a couple of things could help Trotty along. We need a quantity of more experienced players, but they have to be young and with pace. They should also be cheap, or better still play for the love of the badge. That way we should be able to get a lot more of them and bolster the squad without upsetting the budget. Or preferably, trash the budget and go the hell for it, who cares about the long-term security of the club? Ideally they should be local. Disciplinary wise they should be saints, and they should be posessed of very thick skins, but equally receptive to any coaching suggestions from the massed ranks of fans, however contradictory they might be, because everyone's opinions are equally of value because this is a forum. Personally I would like it written into their contracts that they should all weep tears of joy whenever they set foot on the hallowed turf of Hartsdown, and grovel in pain, contrition and sorrow in front of the fans if they fail to win every game. Because they will all be equally splendid players we will need to rotate them so that they all can play each week.

Trotty should apply to the fans each week for their suggestions on the ideal formation, and try to incorporate it into every game. He should also make every attempt to sign the fans' suggested players, whether or not they are on contract to other clubs, or indeed happy there.

If there are major breaches of discipline, the offenders should be made to do MFC community service and build some temporary terracing and a cover for the Coffin End. They must also enact an act of contrition in front of the fans in the clubhouse after the game. Minor breaches of discipline should be punished by setting up a hot-water bottle delivery for the more mature ladies on the terraces who feel the cold a bit.

There we are, we could, with these minor tweaks, travel to every game home and away in the certain belief that we should, and will, win every one.

Now wouldn't that be exciting?
