I think we have had a great season. If you told me we would be seventh at the end of the season back last August I would have taken that. The important thing now is to make sure we sign key players for next season to provide consistency and may be go one better next year!

Lookming on the bright side at least I will not have to create a League two TomTom POI file from scratch, I can just modify my Conference one! smile

Although our performance yesterday was quite poor (only two shots on target), overall 7th position is an excellent result. Our second best ever finish after our debut in the Alliance Premier when we finished 5th. Congratulations to all concerned.

Talking of yesterday's match, am I in a minority of 1 to think that Daggers VERY route 1 style is particularly unnattractive to watch.

I know it is effective, slinging endless huge hoofs downfield for Benson and Strevens to chase, which they do particularly well, but I bet they will get their comeuppance against decent league 2 defences. We thought our football was ugly last season, champions or not, I wouldn't be that happy about having to watch THAT every week!!

That's a bit rich coming from a supporter of a team that played more route 1 football in 90 minutes yesterday that any other team I've seen this season (and that includes the Daggers). Still you won't have to watch THAT next season will you!!!!

Hence our frustration yesterday when all we had was the long-forgotten long ball to Charlie! That wasn't the GNFC that has got to 7th in the Conference, but I think that was the Dagenham team's natural game. No disrespect, it's won them games and they're obviously good at it (but with 6ft 3 strikers they should be) but as he said, it's not pretty football!

I never thought I would say this ......... but

I agree with C.G 100% (I'm gonna have to have a lie down in a darkened room!)

I've been pretty accurate with my forecasts for teams going into League 2 over the years and think that D&R may well struggle if they don't change things about a bit.

In their favour is the fact they have a very able manager who I would wager has already got plans for a couple of decent "foot on the ball" merchants next year.

If any D&R fans are reading this, its not meant as a slur on your club as I'm well pleased they have gone up. It just shows how much you can achieve with a sound, well-run club. I just hope they don't come straight back down though.

I certainly hoped I haven't offended any Daggers fans, the ones I spoke to were genuinely good people, it seems a really well run club, with a tidy little ground and pleasant stewards (Fleet please note).

Good luck to them in the league - they have won the league on merit, playing their own brand of successful football.

My comments were only aimed at the type of football they play, but if you have 2 big, pacy , mobile strikers who are happy to feed off each other, I guess John Still and the rest of the team realise the long ball to them is the best way of utilising their resource.

We of course only have short, pacy strikers, which is why the long hoof (as we unfortunately did on Saturday) is fruitless.

It still wasn't a good game to watch!

Well as I have said in numerous posts this season, I think the Fleet have punched above their weight and finishing 7th is a brillant effort and hopefully they can build from here. I for one, will come back at see the Fleet when I can, probably now, in between watching Charlton in the Championship next season, as I think we are heading for relegation. Let's hope the core of the squad can be retained, that Liam Diash remains as manager and that with the addition of a few more experienced players we can have a real go for promotion in 2007/08.

They certainly hoofed the ball as high as they could on Saturday but I doubt very much if they have been playing like that all season or they would not have won the league so convincingly.

They certainly played a lot more football at Stonebridge road when we were a bit fortunate to get a 0:0 draw.

Best wishes to Daggers for next season and their achievements this year can give us all hope for next season.

WE seemed to decide that it wasnt going to happen for us after Charlie missed the penalty - had we scored then, it would have been a different game (and Charlie would I believe have shared the Golden Boot as well).

Mind you, it would only have left us to feel more deflated later on when Exeter turned things round inside 5 minutes.
