I wouldn't have thought so. I heard that Ayres had blocked off the path leading to the ground. Crying shame really, but the man thought that planning permission didn't apply to him, so ended the dream.

Ayers doesn't own the access to those areas, that was a bugbear when the land was being 'sold off' according to the land registry it didn't 'belong' to anyone and so access to the site could not be guaranteed!

It wasn't RFC's to keep up to ryman level, down to the cash raker ayers. Who knocked down the old dressing rooms and built a slum!

Spend thousands building facilities on property we didn't own? Surely only a kent would do that!

I took a couple of pics of the stand when i was in there the other day.

So the bloke who owns it is not very helpful i take then.

I still would like anymore info on the ground.

When was it last used?

I think I am right in saying that Romford's last home game at Sungate was on November 27, 2001. A 4-3 win against Stansted in the East Anglian Cup.

After that there may have been a few junior cup finals played on it, but the following year it became the dump it is now.

Was never salubrious at the best of times, in fact it was a sh!t hole...but it was our kind of sh!t hole.

I am sure if it had of been an option we would have snapped it a long time ago. The new 'owner' was all-welcoming at the beginning, a big meeting held and things looked rosy, then it was discovered he had a propensity for the odd bit of cost-cutting and forgetfulness ie planning permission for new bar(s) and dressing rooms, ergo our nomadic existance ever since..
