Reserves win promotion

TQA

well played.

Good passing football and worked for each other.great spirit.

slightly fortunate win-maybe 2-2 would have been fair.

Greenwich started stronger and had a few squeeze narrowly wide in first 25 mins.

then 2 goals in 10 mins, and we are two nil up and start to dominate.

2nd half with the wind, play good football and look the better side until 75 mins when Greenwich pull one back with a header ,leading to a tense finish.

As seems usual, Greeenwich were older ,taller but Margate players were fit and strong which is a credit to them.

Afraid i don't know most of players, so better people than me can hopefully give a fuller and more detailed report of a great season.

Do we assume that the likes of Dolton and Robinson have left having not made it when first team opportunities came their way.

Thought we were strong in midfield today-No8-Olly ? and No 6 in defensive midfield.

No 5 -Saul? ,although not tall was impressive, and the front 3 of 9-James ? 10-Jimmy ? and Paul Axon at 7 all looked dangerous .

Danny stokes ? at right back also looked quite good.

Overall, the football they played was very impressive and much better than was being served up season before last by the first team .

Particularly impressed by the ball control of most of them.

Big question is-could they make the grade to first team- of that i'm not sure 'and at the moment, probably no-but after another season in div 0ne of reserve league-maybe a few could.

MWeatherley should be very proud of what he has achieved and produced from scratch

Now down to u18s to secure 3rd spot. For those who don`t know the u18s that well and question whether they can progress I`d like to repeat something I overheard before the game yesterday from an onlooker when he saw the team warming up, "they are just a bunch of kids". Whilst a little patronizing, it is true. Jamie McClean, scored and surely made Margates second is only just 17, give him another year. Dan Hughes, on the bench also has great promise and also a first year u18. Not there yesterday but Matt Bowles is knocking on the door. The second year u18s, Elliott Payne played well out of position, outstanding Saul Anderton should be given a chance and the dynamo Paul Axon, never stops. Olti Keci who has now proved he has what it takes must be catching the eye. Of course as in all footy it`s only my opinion and rather bias, I`ve watch these lads from the first game v Rams and on their day can provide a standard of football that should give all at MFC hope, and of course a lower wage bill. Not all local talent has been swept up by the spotters, it`s on our doorstep and up to MFC to take a chance and these players under their wing, show them that they have a chance to progress, not all will make it but one or two might.

As a thought, and I`m not the first to say this; it would be nice to see reserves v first team, a money raiser for the club prehaps!

Well that`s off my chest, to Canterbury now for game.

Good Luck to u16s who play at HDP this morning.

From what i had time to see yesterday the guys played well also considering they were down to the bare bones. Hence Phil Fennel being on the bench. Kenny Pratt was there but is still feeling his injury when he runs. Barron seemed to be suffering with his Groin.

WELL DONE LADS.
