summary of season

Am I really the only person that is incredibly disappointed with this season?

An awful lot was predicted at the start of the year by a new manager, including automatic promotion.

People who predicted mid table mediocrity were shouted down as pessimists

Windsor have ended up solidly mid table

Something needs to change for next season!

- and not another set of arrogant statements, talk is cheap, results don’t lie

Mid Table with a new side in a new league with a new manager is quite good in my view! Simons biggest mistake was talking up our chances but we havn't had much luck with Casey and Ursell's injurys along with Will and Vargass.

Only thing that needs to change next season is the defense in my view with another striker

i think terry has fitted in very well at right back, think we need a left back, but with will, tilbs and marian we've got 3 good central defenders, and two that are young. think we do need another striker, not quite sure on grieves, and will seedel still be here or will he be wanted to play in conference south with hampton?

Overall I'd say it has been a good and generally enjoyable season. We've had some odd results and some unfortunate injuries (and even more unfortunate red cards) but we have a good squad, good spirit and a lot of young talent.

The only people who could possibly be disappointed with our progress are

a) Loonies who think we are actually Chelsea, for some reason playing in red and green at Stag Meadow

B) People who want Simon's job

Which one are you, Enough?

"The only people who could possibly be disappointed with our progress are..."

So you can't see any other possible reason for disappointment? And in other words mid-table in the division below the one we were in last season is the best we could possibly expect?

Do you also believe all our players have consistently performed to the best of their ability; and that they've all tried their hardest, throughout?

That we've had the most appropriate selections at the right times, both team and substitution?

That we could not possibly have showed more skill at set-pieces, in attack and defense?

That we've always played to the strengths of our players, and with a well-trained style?

Because I'd say all of these are valid reasons for disappointment, myself...

I guess it's all a question of how you look at things and what your expectations are.

A new manager and new team have to be very lucky to settle in straight away and we are after all talking about part-time players who are in full time employment. If you've had a crap day on a building site do you really want [or in some cases be able to] give your all. I don't think there's ever been any lack of commitment from any player this season.

Tactically we have been naive sometimes but a lot of that is due to the younger players not having the experience required, next season they'll have another year under their belts and should have learnt from their mistakes this season. No two people will ever agree on team selection, substitutions, etc and that goes as much for England to Man Utd to Windsor & Eton.

I've taken a lot of pleasure from this season seeing our mostly young squad giving their all instead of watching a set of supposedly senior players turning it on whenever they feel like it!

It's an optimism/pessimism thing I guess, I'd say we've finished halway up the table while you seem to be saying we've finished halfway down - at the end of the day it's all about opinions and mine is different to yours.

Keep most of the current squad together plus a few quality additions and I think next season could be a great one for the club.

The future's bright - the future's red and green!!!

Well I though the season was better than expected. I did tip us to go down by the way!

We need to improve our defence and find someone with a bit of bite in the midfield. We have been unlucky with the weather to our superb wembley like pitch!

I suppose some people will call for a winter break next!

On the whole I have found the players more open and better than last year. We have a young squad that will improve with a novice manager who will also improve. Please don't say we will win the league simon! Hopefully Slough will be in our league next season for more derby games and hopefully 6 points!

Good Luck to the Panto Boys Tomorrow.

I think the only mistake you've made is the manager saying you'll challenge for promotion which has made a rod for his own back. After the season you had last year to rebuild the side score shed loads of goals and finish comfortbaly mid table is an achievement. Some of the signings have looked great on paper (I'm particularly thinking Ursell here who seems to have been constantly injured) and I am sure you will finish higher in the league than Slough next season and possibly challenge for promotion. But then having two sets of fans helping to pay the bills does help.

Oh, no question but that it's been far more enjoyable than last year - not just because we were scoring more goals, but there was visibly much more energy and effort from most of the team.

That's what made it worse when we seemed, quite often, to be outplayed by teams whose players seemed to have less individual skill.

Of course, having so few matches through the winter really hurt: I think a lot of the players got rusty, and to some extent forgot how to play as a team. This was especially compared with how well we were shaping through autumn, and I think that's what really got my expectations up and is why I felt let down by the end.

Are we still significantly younger than most other teams at this level? I thought we had a good few fairly experienced players now.

Loyalty is admirably, Naivety isn’t.

Every team suffers injuries, it cannot be used as an excuse, Bashley have had injuries I’m sure, and they have run away with this league. The players you have mentioned may be fit next year, others will not.

The statement was made that Windsor WILL be promoted, that hasn’t happened – therefore = failure

The issue is, has the squad of fit players played to their full potential?

I would say nothing like

I don’t want the manager’s job. I want to see Windsor back playing at a better level of football – Simple

The real question is - Can the current manger help Windsor achieve this?

Personally, I would say not, and it would be a shame to waste another year trying to prove otherwise.

It's a shame Simon Lane has to come out with a load of old rubbish in the Paper every week. If he has just got his head down and got on with the football then this season would have been respectable, but because of his stupid comments and big mouth its now deemed a failure. The team plays good football at times and the only weak link is the defence. Sadly Tilbury has had his day and Burgess is just a long ball specialist. Hopefully Dunlop can come back just as strong next year and with a new back line would surely take the club further up the league. Still, All those notes he makes on his clipboard may come in useful next season.....

So Enough doesn't think we should waste another year building on what we've got but suggests we waste a year bringing in yet another new manager who will take a year to build a new team - sorry but I can't quite get my head around that theory!

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what any of us think, the directors are the ones putting their hands in their pockets so they'll decide if and when they're not happy with what we've got.
