Daish on Woking shortlist

Would you rather be 'an overachieving Conference south club'?

Or a naff supposed 'sleeping giant' that has been sleeping in the lower half of the Conference for 10 years?

Cos over the last five years or so, there's not been a lot to choose between them.

I'd rather be good old Fleet, doing things slowly but surely (but perhaps just a little bit quicker).

I am concerned, however, that Liam hasn't put pen to paper yet, even though contract talks have been ongoing for a while.

How long does it take to say yes or no?

Or is his awaiting the outcome of the season before committing, or if the rumour mill is to be believed, is he mulling over other offers?

Utter boll*cks.
To whom did he say this?
When did he say this?
May have been last spring, but not now.
Pure muck raking conjecture from a tinpot local rag.

Remarkable Gary, you've managed to swing full circle from thinking that it's "pure bollox" to "it might be possible and why hasn't he signed" in just about 90 minutes.

The Woking news post is Boll*cks, Harry.

I have no doubt LD hasn't spoken to them or even anyone they know - and he actually probably hasn't said anything to anybody - especially the Woking Daily Sport about needing a new challenge.

Of course, it might turn out to be a true story, but it seems to be more a speculative story on what THEY think will happen.

My posting 90 odd minutes later is an attempt to reason out why LD hasn't yet signed a new contract.

As I said - there are probably multiple reasons, budgets, promotion, player availabilty, sponsors to name but a few.

Do you not agree, though, it would have sent out a clear and positive message to the board, the squad and the supporters if LD could sign before the season was over?

"The emphasis is on appointing a man who believes in an entertaining brand of football, seen as a must to bring back the club’s lost fans" - perhaps we ought to remind them of the dross that he served up for us last season and quietly forget the better stuff from this season. Come to that, we could even point out that his brand of football this year hasnt exactly brought back the lost fans at the Fleet either!

In my opinion everything seems to be on the edge. If we made the playoffs, it would be longer for stuff to get moving then if we don't. But I'm hoping as soon as the league is over and next seasons league is definate, we will dot the i's and cross the t's with this exciting new sponsor and then following this I'm sure Daish and players for next year will follow. I'm probably way off the mark tho lol.

Surrey Ad (other local tinpot rag) follows suit with same shortlist plus Steve Thompson (ex-Yeovil coach and Cards hero; yes please). Not online yet, but doesn't add much anyway.

I can't see why your boy would move, and I doubt we could afford him anyway. He's probably trying out your board for a few more quid on his contract. Good luck to him.

I'm sure Liam would rather live at home 7 days a week.

The only reason I would have thought, for Liam to go to Woking, would be he had more money to work with. That doesn't appear to be the case , if it is true they are going back part-time.

Just because Liam is mentioned by every club looking for a manager,is, he is held in high regard as a manager. Becuase he is mentioned, doesn't mean he is interested. If he is interested, you can't blame a person for wanting to better themselves.

As I have said before, for the limitations that Liam is working under, he has done a very good job!

Boss Daish aims to stay at Fleet

Daish is happy to stay on at Gravesend

Gravesend & Northfleet boss Liam Daish say he has no intention of leaving the Conference club.

Daish has been linked with the vacant manager's jobs at Woking and Aldershot after Fleet finished seventh - outside of the play-off spots.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "I want the club to progress and we need to go forward because I have targets.

"We have built something this year and I want to add to it, I don't want to take it apart."
