Kettering striker Gez Murphy has been placed on the transfer list following a meeting with Poppies boss Carl Shutt on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old will be allowed to leave Rockingham Road on a free transfer.

He signed for Town in the summer after being released by Boston.

Murphy, who scored 30 goals in 50 Conference starts for Telford between 1998 and 2001, had helped the Pilgrims secure promotion to the Football League.

He has managed four goals in 23 appearances for Town.

Kettering are not seeking a fee for the 26-year-old.

Shutt has also lost the services of former Gravesend and Northfleet forward Simon Parker, who has opted to leave the club, and defender Brad Piercewright, who has been released.

Ex-York City and Bradford striker Neil Tolson has also left and hopes to sign for Halifax Town if their transfer embargo is lifted.

I think Gez Murphy might be worth a look at.

OK only 4 goals but the service can't have been very good from a team as poor as Kettering.

Back of hols now and agree Super Daz, i think he could be worth a look at. Thought he was a bit of a handful when he played at our place. On the subject of pledge money...I dont want to sound negative but wasnt the pledge money initially set up as a transfer fund to BUY a player ? I know Andy talked abt using the fund to get a couple of loan signings in before. IMO i think this would be a waste. Yes it may guarantee safety but at the end of the day we'd have nothing to show from the fans investment as we'd be right back to square one when the loans are up. Thats my opinion anyway. I come back things have totally changed....Dave's given up his moderator duties and gone on a Bosman to be Admin Director. Last question Dave, how much money do u think Andy needs ?

Well Bernard, the first goal he scored yesterday was the best finish I have seen this season in any standard of football. He was by far the best player on the pitch. Although the standard was lower than GNF, I would be amazed if he could not play at Conference standard comfortably.

Well, he had a superb season for Heybridge one year in the Ryman, but only ever popped up with the odd goal for us at that level and was never hugely prolific in the Conference with Kettering (a goal in a dismal defeat to them at Stonebridge Road a couple of years back excepted).

Still awake Mr Shandy ?? Lemonades all round !!

As mentioned in our conversation last week, I think the only reason Parker didn't stay on at GNFC was that he was at University in Nottingham ? ( Work dodger...Levellers fan !!)..so couln't hack the travelling.

He looked ok as a striker when I saw him......

Hopefully Brian will get his cheque book out and sign Wayne Rooney !!

...at least that will get Wap Man to a few more games !! ( but hopefully not !! )

Cheers,
