GOOD LUCK MFC - Part XIII - Party time!

So we go seven games unbeaten and are still in the promotion hunt. A thousand tributes to Trotty and the whole team for getting us this far! One last effort and we can be in the play-offs!

 

Forget the "what if's"! What has gone in the lead up to this match has gone. Sure, points were lost, but not through lack of effort. WE ARE 270-ish MINUTES FROM PROMOTION TO THE CONFERENCE! Even the Conference is turning Blue to welcome us (a change in sponsors)!

 

Okay - on paper we have the hardest task! Our fate relies on us winning at Hendon whilst others have last night nerves and nightmares.

 

But we have a great team! We can play football, we can score goals...lots of goals. We can defend like trojans and we can attack like scorpions! WE ARE GOOD ENOUGH!

 

Ah, you ask, but what have the fates got in store? What are the wise words of Abdullah? Who is going to do the business and make the play-offs?

 

The answer lies in three of the teams who have a bearing on our fate, Leyton , Hendon and East Thurrock United. Once again I have to read the portents from the letters of each of these teams. Each faces a team vying for the play-offs.

 

So in the mix we have Leyton! A tough game for them against Billericay. Dabbling with the letters from Leyton FC I get ONLY F ETC. , which i take to mean Billericay will beat them, Leyton will fail. But a rehash gives us CONF YET L. My mystic thoughts translate this as "We will make the Conference despite Leyton"!

 

What of AFC Wimbledon and East Thurrock United FC: Ah, my good friends, there is music to our ears. The vibes are good as a twisty EAST THUROCK UNITED FC gives us TIED - ROCKS TUNE HURT AFC. By this it seems that AFC will drop points at East Thurrock!

 

WE CAN DO IT! and we will! A confused Hendon will be beaten by a striker whose surname begins with the letter H.

 

Alas it may not be Danny! The prophecy is NONE DH! Step up Rob Haworth - NO END H! No end to the season yet then!

 

So a thousand blessings to Robin Trott and mighty men of MARGATE FC. A win at Hendon and we are there! Go and write your names in MFC history as the legends who won promotion via the play-offs.

 

Oh, and a thousand pardons if I get it wrong!!!!

Well said Joseba, I know we lost a few we should have won but at the end of the day have been entertained so much better than last season's cligffhanger. Long may it continue. As I have said before even the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool etc don't perform every single game. So well done lads

im gutted i cant make saturdays game, after saturdays game against ashford have been planing the trip to hendon, BUT my physio has now killed me by saying its not a good idea to go, NUTS!!! so a huge come on boys get your head down and play your own game.. do it for the fans!!!

Ah, Cookie, you are very astute! Thirteen is an X-tra lucky number for me.

I am the thirteenth member of my family to be called Abdullah, born on the 13th, married my thirteenth wife when I was thirteen, have thirteen toes, can speak thirteen languages, watched Margate since I was thirteen, was the lead character in Graham Greene's unpublished novel novel "the thirteenth man", own thirteen goats, own a yacht called thirteen, my favourite film is Friday the thirteenth and the house name on my bedouin tent is "The Bakers Dozen". Up until this Saturday I have only been to Hendon's ground 12 times!!

Besides I wrote out parts 8 to 12 on parchment but those prophecies left us in 13th spot!

Hope this explains things. Thought you might think that I get my roman X's and V's mixed up, otherwise!
