I was saddened to learn that Alan Ball has passed away. I used to watch him regularly at Arsenal in the 1970s and he was always a great player.

I remember one game at Ibrox in August 1973 when Arsenal played Rangers in their Centenary game.

Alan was getting huge abuse from the massive crowd and answered their jeers and cat-calls with a dazzling array of ball skills and tricks which earned him even more booing which he lapped up.

 

Rest in peace, Alan and thanks for some great memories.
