Record number of points!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what the record nuber of points in the SSML Prem div is? Edgware have 99 pts at present and can get to 102. Looking back at the past season by using the drop down box league table on the mitto site, it appeas that London Colney had the previous most points, and Edgware have now beaten this.

Even though in most past seasons there have been between 36 and 38 games played, Edgware would have still beaten the record as we had 96pts from 38 matches.

In interesting fact is that when we won the Spartan league in 88 and in 90, we played less games then we have done this season and we lost more then we have done this season.

We have beaten your number of points PB, and that is taking into accont if we had not played 39 matches to date. You had 92pts from 38 matches, we had 96 from 38 matches.

As far as I can tell Edgware will set a new record for the number of points in a season, and it would have been a record if we had of played 38 matches let alone 40

Potters Bar Town only lost four that season I think, and one of those was at Home to Langford, we also held PBT to a 2-2 draw at our place, and we still finished fourth from bottom!!!!!, I don't think theres much chance of us getting anything on Saturday against the current Champions, but i am sure we will give it a go

Right, if we take the SSML from starting in 1997-98 then Edgware have won the most points with (currently) 99. However if you work it out by average points then you get the following:

1997-98 (North & South Premier Divisions)

Brook House PD 28 Pts 60 Av 2.14

Brache Sparta PD 28 Pts 71 Av 2.54

1998-99 Barkside PD 44 Pts 96 Av 2.18

1999-00 Arlesey Town PD 40 Pts 93 Av 2.33

2000-01 Beaconsfield SYCOB PD 36 Pts 88 Av 2.44

2001-02 London Colney PD 38 Pts 92 Av 2.42

2002-03 Dunstable Town PD 36 Pts 84 Av 2.33

2003-04 Beaconsfield SYCOB PD 36 Pts 88 Av 2.44

2004-05 Potters Bar Town PD 38 Pts 92 Av 2.42

2005-06 Oxford City PD 38 Pts 88 Av 2.32

2006-07 Edgware Town P39 Pts 99 Av 2.54

As you can see Edgware currently are on the same points per game average as Brache Sparta from 1997-98, though Edgware have slightly the superior average as I have rounded it up to two decimal points (2.538-2.535 if you are that interested!)

If Edgware lose there last game then the average is 2.48, draw the last game would equal 2.50 but a win would give them an average of 2.55 which will be the highest in the SSML top division.

How far you would want to go back beyond 1997-98 i'm not sure Gavin, reading the SSML history then it does make it sound like you would follow the SML route, but to be fair you would have to look up the Spartan League as well for a definitive answer.
