Ramsgate U16's Vs Margate U16's

After a a good performance away to ashford borough last weekend winning 4-1, luigi scott's u16's went into the local derby in a confident mood. With a rather big turn out at southwood stadium the game looked to be a thriller.

Ramsgate started the brighter of the two teams pushing forward with high balls causing the margate defence problems. With the presence of hemmings, gray and gibson at the back, the attacking play of ramsgate had to be imaginative.

Ramsgate deservedly took the lead with a one on one, with the player finishing with a neat shot passed lamprell. With margate under pressure throughout the first half, trying to feed balls into gonzalez-belo and taylor was hard work. Ramsgate soon scored a second with the midfield clipping a long ball forward catching out the defence, and was slotted away well into the corner.

Half time 2-0.

In the second half margate come out a completely different team, immediately pushing the ramsgate back line into forcing mistakes and corners. After 5 minutes of the restart, lovell's looping header from taylor's corner found the top corner of the goal and margate were soon back in it at 2-1. Margate were now working the ball well with twelvetree, clapton and scott feeding the balls out wide to baker and wheatly.

But then on the counter attack, the home team broke down the left hand side and swung in a ball which beat lamprell and a ramsgate striker knodded in at the back post. With the game suddenly becoming a bit more intense and players getting more frustrated, silly free kicks were being given away, and from a resulting set piece, margate commited a foul in the area, with ramsgate slotting the penalty away.

Margate pulled one back making it 4-2 and nearly added onto that score but the ball got blazed over the bar. As margate pushed forward for some consolation, ramsgate scored a fifth with a header from a free kick. Full time blew which left the margate 16's very disappointed. Hopefully luigi scott's boys can have a winning performance, when the two teams meet at hartsdown park in a few games time.

Next Game: 24.4.07 Whistable Town (away) @ The Belmont Stadium 7.45pm
