Despite today - possibilities STILL

My concern is though, that if we don't get out of the league this year, we never will, and will slowly slip down the kent semi-pro pecking order.

Praying for a miracle on saturday,as i really think we would win the play-offs, but we just messed up so badly in March.

Not back to find us where we should be.Enjoyed the Chelmsford result though.

Could someone clarify the following for me please?

If SCS got sent off in a reserve game is he suspended for saturday,or is that carried over to next season.(pleae please let SCS still be with us next season) and i believe i read that CM is injured?

i.e who will be in goal on saturday

I think Scott is okay for Saturday but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.I havent heard otherwise. Goodness me I hope he's okay otherwise we are in the [****!!****]!

Would be a good idea too if Trotty took the gamble on Saturday & made him the only keeper on the day with no other keeper on the bench thus allowing another forward to sit on the bench for a different option should it be required.

Ideal scenario.

Wimbledon losing.

0-0 Hendon v Margate after 90 minutes.

Injurt time corner for Margate.

SCS goes upfield and connects with a bullet header to score the winning goal and send margate into the play-offs.

Above all, SCS signs for next season with the'Gate

A better scenario would be that AFC were either losing or drawing but we were two down with about 5 minutes to play. The have heard our score They then think they are home & hosed & just going through the motions & celebrating already. Then the sucker punch for them!! Three goals in the last 5 minutes from the "Gate". No time for AFC to up their game. Now wouldn't that be great!

Seriously though, both you, Michael & I should be hoping for miracles at those other two games rather than thinking some up for us.l.o.l.

Mind you if we play like we did last Saturday a victory at Hendon would be miracle enough. l.o.l. wink bigshock

I have the same fears as MM in that we've been mediocre (occasionally sublime, often abysmal-who can forget Potters Bar and this was a team who had to try for the first round of the FA Cup) this season and it seems we blew our chance. Next season is going to be even tougher.

It seems you can't say a word against Trott on here but I missed seeing Brayley, Sesay, Deen and Yiga being given a chance to shine (Kinnear never had a problem with them did he)? and I'm still not convinced by his self styled "ruthless" management.

Anyone else on here got the balls to admit their doubts?

I've spent too many Tuesday nights and Saturday afternoons baffled by our inept performances to feel confident that we're moving forward. Underachievers as far as I'm concerned.

Where were we in the league with above named players? towards the end of last season. No disrespect to CK's terrific record for Margate Football Club, but I would propose he had a problem with most of the team at that time, in that most of them didn't want to know!

At Slough I was incensed with both Trotty & Flannagans substitutions & lack of know how on how to motivate the players at half time, them having looked a shadow of themselves from early in the season.Yes there might have been excuses but on the day I was fuming.I called for him to go on that day I freely admit to that. But that was on the day & frustration got to me then. Had he taken that form into the Ramsgate game then maybe his days WERE numbered. But since that game he HAS changed things round & credit to him for seeing the need.Apart from Saturdays game he gave us two cracking results. Now he needs to do that on Saturday.Get the players up for it & get them to perform. He is still learning the trade therefore some leaway has to be given.Overall he has done well. Not as well as some of us had hoped but overall he has done good. He deserves another term, taking all things into consideration & lets not forget we may still have something to cheer about THIS season yet.

Despite my outburst & feelings at Slough I still believe he can do a good job here & in a second season he will have learnt many lessons from his first in charge & will be better at his job next year because of it...Trotty still for me!

But this thread shouldn't be about Trotty it should be about

the possibilities we still have THIS season no matter how slender they might be. Trotty, despite not giving us all what we all wanted, despite his greeness, has led us into having this possibility on Saturday, at least.

Lets finish the season on a high in the same way that we started the season.......on a high! Remember Worthing!

Uh oh I think the rose tinted spectacle brigade won't like that. I will reserve comment until after Saturday when I know whether we've had a SUCCESSFUL season or an UNSUCCESSFUL season. Don't think there'll be too many doubters, MM, John Kirby, myself maybe but that'll be about it.

I like the idea of an up and coming young manager and I've no doubt about Trotts integrety and hard-workmanship but some decisions are rather strange. I would like to see our BEST team played and not let personalities get in the way-why is Protheroe not used for example and the players mentioned earlier by WB.

If we are going to blame lack of depth in the squad, injuries (is there a training issue?) suspensions(is there a disipline issue?) all down to the manager.

I reckon this could be a good debate.

Would have liked to have seen at least one of this seasons objectives achieved with the players we've got.

Hopefully these are some of the things he will have taken on board, thought about & learnt from for next season! One objective, the main one IS still alive & has not been lost YET!

Yep agreed-anything can happen in football. Ricay will be tense and Leyton can relax-same with Thurrock and AFC. End of season games when a team has nothing to play for and one still has can produce any result. I'd rather it be in our hands though and not others.
