Before getting injured against Weymouth Mark Debolla looked like a player of the season candidate and likewise before getting injured against Oxford Mark Ricketts had hardly put a foot wrong. Ross has been superb again and Charlie has been oustanding all season. Once Stacy got over his pre-season injury and broke into the side he showed on many occasions the quality that has gained him so many England caps and although Lance has had the odd blip he has also had some brilliant games.

It should have been a hard choice for player of the season but it really wasn't. Well done Macca. applause applause applause

I have to admit, I was highly critical of McCarthy at the end of last season and prior to this one.

I have really had to eat my words. Whilst he may not be the fastest player on the field, that does not really matter as he has so much experience and reads the game so well and his positioning is excellent. He and Ross Smith have become an excellent central defensive team and I am sure that Ross will admit that he has learnt a lot from PM and is the reason why he too has had such a good season.

Should he decide not to renew his contact next season his loss will be felt almost as much as losing Macdonald. (should the inevitable happen and CM goes onto pastures new).

Nothing wrong with admitting that you have had to "eat your words" John....I think we have all had to do that at some point in our "careers" !

Shame that other people don't acknowledge/own up/apologise when they have made an error of judgement....rather than claim that Liam is taking on board all their comments, despite calling for his head at the end of last season ( you know who you are !!...and if you don't, it's you CG !!)

Cheers John.....keep the faith mate,

It's a pity you didn't read my comments about LD on the 'Thank you' thread. Perhaps your rather myopic and tired views of me are making you selective of what you read.

Of course I congratulate LD & AK on what they have achieved this year.

I was a critic last year. Who was 't?

But even in our darkest hours I defended LD's ability to discover young players.

And what gems he has unearthed.

What part of that don't you understand?

From what I've heard, Macca's not thinking of hanging up his boots just yet.

So are denying that you wanted LD sacked?

No.

I wanted him sacked at the end of last season, because the performances were p*** poor, tactics were poor, results were disasterous, and our style of play was route 1 ghastly.

Do I regret what I said then?

No.

I would have done with hindsight, but nobody has that.

Am I glad he stayed?

Yes.

I take my hat off to Liam this year, he has signed great players, engendered a good team spirit and we have (with only a few exceptions) played pretty, but effective football.

And it is reassuring that Hirsty enjoyed last years fayre, to the extent that he was one of the few Fleet fans who were not critical of what was going on.

As I am off sick next week I might spend a few minutes trawling through last summer's postings, just out of interest of course, to find out the feelings then from ouur regular forum posters.

Good stuff Gary, I'm glad you're able to admit you were wrong.

I too wanted Daish sacked last season but not so much for his performances but for other stuff.

Trawling through previous post's is a great laugh but can you go back further than last summer as I didn't post then. If I remember rightly you turned on Daish around February time last year which is when me and you had a difference of opinion, go back to around that time and bring up some old post's I'll be glad to tackle any queries you have.

I don't have any problem with admitting, in hindsight, that my calls for LD's sacking were premature.

What annoys me is some fans myopic view that all was perfect last year, when clearly it wasn't.

Of course, when one of the criteria on how good Fleet were on a given game is in proportion to the amount of beer drunk, or how good the beer is, it could cloud your judgement!!

To be honest, I think most of us wanted Liam sacked towards the end of last season, including myself. It weren't until after the end of last season when I thought of why we played the way we did: injuries, too may on loan players?, half part time and full time....

Assuming that this is a dig at me....then so be it ! It is your right to voice your opinion, as it is mine. Cheap jibe though....maybe we should not have a bar ? thus depriving people of enjoyment, and the club of revenue....but there again, you always know best don't you !!

Bovrils all round !!

Cheers....

Sorry GC, didn't read this one before last post.....hmmmm....don't see me on there....I couldn't have had enough beers (ha !)

I want to be the minority ( as Green Day once sang !) So looks like I was right and you were wrong...not that I take any pleasure out of that ( and I am serious with this one !)

Anyway....off to Dagenham Saturday, then I won't be about for a few months, so you can have a Hirsty free summer ( hence my have a good summer message in earlier post !). I'll try to look in from time to time to catch up with "events".

Cry God for Harry, England & St George ( and Liam of course !!)

Cheers,

Never meant it to be a jibe, Hirsty, apologies if you took it that way. My point was though, you have never commented on the appalling displays we saw last year - in particular after February.

Either you liked what you saw -, but didn't comment, or like the rest of the Fleet faithful you hated it.

We chose to vent our feelings on here - yet again you chose not to.

I am intriuged why you cannot bring yourself to admit that at times we were bloody awful - so bad that we are still experiencing the legacy in poor attendances now at a time when we should be getting massive crowds.

Sadly people have long memories, and it will take more than a good, but ultimately cupless season fo lure back those floating 'fans' we so desparately need.

I'll be there saturday - word from the Dagenham camp is that tickets are selling like hot cakes, the only spare palces will be on the away terrace, so get there early to find a parking spot.

...as commented previously, sometimes I like to keep opinions to myself ( on the odd occasion ), & not share with all & sundry ! Sorry if that is not the correct way to proceed. ......and having stated as such I would add that goes for a number of scenarios,...good, bad & indifferent. I keep the faith. What does piss me off though, and this is not intended to be aimed at you ......is that the f*ckin winge winge brigade really piss me off ( as my previous posts will show !!)...and, as also mentioned in previous posts, I am sure that some people's weekends are completely ruined when we win !!

So....that's me done for a few months ( after Saturday coming !)

Enjoy the drought !! Resume hostilities ( I mean banter !) in August...

Cry God for Harry, England & St George ( and Liam !)

Over & out....

Cheers,
