Bit of a rushed fixture but Margate went to HB with a strong line-up. It was my first visit to their ground and I was shocked at the state, uncut grass, bear patches and so uneven the ball never ran in one line. Kicking off as the sun went down the light or lack of for the first 15 minutes hid the fine start the Blues got off to. with-in minutes McClean was through but uncharacteristically passed the ball instead of taking the shot. Margate were the better side for most of the half but failed to find the net. However, on 35 min McClean found space on the 18 yd line for a shot and 0-1 at half time. keen to get on the second half mirrored the first but it was HB the scored from close range. HBs head lifted and pushed the Gate back and for 15 mins it was all theres. Slowly Margate came back and on a second quick corner Elliot swung a fine ball in which appeared to find the net untouched. Now a lesson in concentration, celibrating as if they had just won something and taking no notice of the touch-line advise to get on with the game HB equalized from the restart after a messy goal mouth scramble, and that was that. HB it has to be said were helped by some very poor linesman "blindeyeing" as over and over free kicks were move 10-15 mtrs up the pitch. However, all in all HBs form of late suggests that a draw here was a good result for the Blues. I think it will be a different game when they visit HDP. Whitstable away Sunday.
