Lack of communication and information

It use to drive me mad if i read 'news' of my club on another forum first! Or in a newspaper. But, us internet users are a minority of the actual support and newspapers are seen to have a higher profile for the masses.

 

Club's don't seem to credit fans as having any importance in any matters except coming through the gate. And as fans we cannot expect to be told anything just because we pay our entrance fee. They do not have to tell us anything.

 

I think it can help if you have a link between supporters and the board to satisfy this gulf. One fan selected as a sort of 'Press Officer' where the news can be relayed to stop this sort of situation happening.

 

Then, the only problem you'll have is arguing (after the event) about the choice of the 'elected' go-between.

 

Who is brave enough to put themselves forward for the role?

I completely agree with Joseba - how difficult would it have been to post on the website this information? After all, the club is normally quick to inform us of new signings, and this is arguably the biggest signing of them all. Very disappointing for it to be confirmed through the press IMO.

As for the decision itself, I feel I am probably one of the few who is not over the moon about it. Granted, Trotty has done well in this first season. But, I feel with the current squad, promotion is a MUST. Now, this has not been completely ruled out and, if we were to achieve promotion through the playoffs, I would be all for the decision to keep him on board for another season. However, if we do not go up, I would be swayed in the other direction.

Well, there are a lot of assumptions flying about. As far as I know, it is NOT a signing until the contract is ... oh yeh, signed. And what about the assumption that information has been "given" to the paper. Since when has a newspaper waited to "recieve" information rather than gone digging? Of course if the news was an "official" update to the paper and it didn't find it's way through the mormal channels then I would agree that is disappointing. Of course it may have just been lack of people to make the update if that were the case - so a mistake.

 

However, I belive that the directors try to deal in facts and until given "real" reason to doubt - by which I mean I know something to the contrary - then I'm prepare to continue to fully support them.

 

But then again, something must be going right for the club, if the big complaint is around not being told about something that might or might not be agreed at some point in the fairly near future.

 

Still, we do seem all agreed that whatever our own persnal mis-givings about the process, that the decision is the right one. Now that is worth talking about.
