Cockfosters can go up

Recommended Posts

I've just discovered this forum and thought I'd add a comment as it's one of the few areas you can find out information about the SSML.

Anyway, having read a few posts re div 1 there seems to be

a) interest in the promotion race

and

B) some confusion as to who has sufficient facilities to go up

As an occasional Cockfosters supporter, I was at the recent Arlesey game, that we won 4-0, and a league rep was there who told our secratary that the prem would accept us, Ampthill or Stony - whoever finishes 2nd. Although the whisper is that third will be enough this year (not sure why).

Just thought I'd put the record straight as it seems the accepted wisdom is Chalk Lane isn't up to scratch for the prem.

I'm far from being 'in the know' but from speaking to people at the club it would seem the top 2 are guaranteed promotion and possibly third place will go up as well.

Apparently there's quite a bit to be sorted out by the SSML and FA with 3 or 4 prem clubs having applied to go higher and the likes of Hanwell and Beaconsfield possibly coming back down to the prem.

Add to this rumours that there could be some sideways movement between SSML and UCL and it's all a bit confused.

From a Cockfosters point of view, we have to beat Cranfield a week on Sat and hope Brimsdown beat Ampthill.

It's only guaranteed that 1st place will be promoted from the Prem to step 4, and of the 5 clubs which did apply originally, all but Edgware and Hertford have withdrawn their applications.

There is a thread on another's forum about the possible surfeit of clubs in the SSML next season - see http://www.nlpl.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?post=25934;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread

Can't think of any circumstances where more than two clubs will be promoted from Div 1. Only Edgware will be promoted, and the one spare place from this season will go to either a relegated club, or to Stotfold. If anything, there will be too many clubs in the Premier Division.

I don't understand your post and you're being predictable again, no doubt you got up at 9.00 had a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes and then came on here to post a few one liners prior to going out to a morning youth game and then onto Canvey Island. Am I wrong.

Okay fair comment but I'm referring to the SSML Forum which wasn't in existence until ten months ago, I just found it a bit strange that someone from Cockfosters should only just have found out about it.

Just strange that's all, do you know Reds76.

With all the tittle tattle and Chinese whispers that go on in the Club house at Chalk Lane that's why I was just a little surprised Reds76 hadn't got wind of the Forum's existence over the last ten months or so.
