Sharing shirt sponsorship is relatively novel in England and does not occur at all, as far as I know, in the top leagues. In Austria however it is commonplace for teams to have numerous different sponsors advertise on a particular strip making them the footballing eqivalent of Formula 1 motor racing. Despite this I am sure that most sponsors would want an exclusive deal for their outlay if they can afford it.

 

G&NFC, from what has been written, did not wish to meet the Austrian deadline of their offer for next season as they had the potential prospect of a 3 year deal in progress. If it comes to fruition it is likely to be the Club's best ever sponsorship deal. In the circumstances you can understand the Club's position. Apparently there is to be an announcement shortly.

 

However, the Club's statement to my way of thinking is sparse and the bare minimum. Austrian helped the Board out of a very big hole. Rumours existed at the time that somehow a sponsor who had been lined up for last season had pulled out after an argument with a Club official.It is a shame that the club's statement doesn't truly reflect that Austrian literally flew to our rescue in what was a crisis. Nor that they have given us arguably the best publicity of any sponsor the Club had ever had before.

Tecnically yes, but I have always considered the Fleet Leisure logo as an extension of the shirt itself. It is unlikely that the Club are being paid to advertise their own leisure facility.

I was referring to rival/unassociated sponsors on the same shirt.

You will find, Busta, that there are some posters on here who appear to be the opinion police, no names, no one person in particu;ar either, but they will contradict you, whatever.

If you have one, any one, they will use copious quotes to discredit you.

Oh, and you never get the chance to argue against what they say, because they rarely make statements, opinionated or otherwise.

Most postings are as a reply or retort.

If you say the sky is blue, no doubt someone will find you have said somewhere that it is grey.

If it makes them happy, fine by me. I get bored with them in exactly the same way I no doubt bore them.

But always remember this is an opinions based forum, for open, frank, lively discussion on all things Fleet.

I will always be glad to enter light hearted debate and banter with you.

An example is Harry J. We frequently argue and disagree, but only rarely does it get any more than that, and we invariably end up as mates,metaphorically shaking hands, and agreeing to disagree.

That is how it should be.

Sometimes I will agree, other times I won't.

I have never met Harry, but I have no doubt he is of a similar personality to me.

How boring it would be if no-one had opinions, but were sitting on the fence, waiting for one person to dare contradict the party line.

Wasn't that called Communism?

That's all very nice, Gary, but I'm not sure what relevance it has here. We weren't dismissing Bustagut's opinions at all; we were merely pointing out some rather bizarre factual errors.

Anyway, how many times have you posted this diatribe (or at least various forms of it) on here now? It doesn't get any more original, or indeed true.
