IF we win the league tomorrow night, any idea when we get the trophy? my guess is Saturday at home to Leverstock, but knowing the SSML it could be next August LOL

 

Does anyone know, and does anyone know or have a picture of the trophy?

It's a shield Gav (I assume it's still the old shield?).. even you're beloved Millwall are on there along with Spurs, West Ham and St Margaretsbury!

Yes, it is still the old shield. Bloody huge and very heavy. No fun lifting that thing in and out of the back of my car, I can tell you! It goes back to the days of Thames Ironworks and Woolwich Arsenal!

Oh ok, I know the one, there is a pic of it in the club boardroom when we won the Spartan League double in 1988

You say that Millwall/spurs/West Ham are on ther? er....they never played in the Spartan League, are you getting confused wit the Southern League championship, who also have a large shield, and I would imagine still do.

I have a picture of the Millwall team from 1895 wit the Southern League shield

Yes, Millwall are on it, along with Thames Ironworks (West Ham), Tottenham Hotspur, Woolwich Arsenal, Chelsea (I think) and, of course, the mighty PBT!

But Millwall never played in the Spartan leauge, unless they did a deal and sold the old southern league shield to the Spartan league?????

Millwall Athletic Reserves won the London League in 1899-1900

It could be that the London League became the London Spartan League, I found this info on the London League, Edgware won the leauge in the 40's and had to play off against the champions of the other divison.

 

As far as Millwall goes, they were in the Southern leauge, then turned pro.

 

I have a feeling that this shield was used by another leauge and then the league either merged with or sold the shield to the London Spartan League
