Are the SSML to blame for Harefield not going up?

Recommended Posts

thats interesting Gav as when we saw them at Christmas they said they had applied. I guess the fault does lie partly with the club in not crossing the t's and dotting the i's o ntheir application as rhodes would say.

I cant understand why they would have let the league take care of it rather then themselves, makes you wonder if they REALLY wanted to promotion after all, despite having a decent side and a decent ground, you wonder, you have to ask why.

Gavin - this is a fascinating thread and you did well to pick up on it off the another Forum. I don't believe for a minute that the SSML hierarchy slipped up, they are far too hot on administrative issues for that, I believe that the blame lies firmly at Harefield's door, if indeed, as you point out, they wanted promotion at all.

Yeah, right! Are we back in RhodesWorld again? This would be the same SSML hierarchy that managed to lose Potters Bar's promotion application four seasons ago, even though I personally handed it over at a League meeting, and the same SSML hierarchy that is so hot on administrative issues that it hasn't got around to throwing Kentish Town out yet for not having a groundshare agreement. Pull the other one, clip Rods.

Jayjay - I really don't know why you raise your head above the parapit like that once in a blue moon, what is the point, I have never been able to work you out. For your information the SSML is one of the best run leagues in the non league game, Potters Bar Town is always using that old chesnut about his promotion application however if I recall the Parkfield Club were not eligible for promotion in 2003/2004 and were promoted as champions of the SSML instead in 2004/2005.

Potters Bar Town, is your club a merger of the two old Potters Bar clubs that used to exist (Potters Bar Crusaders & Potters Bar Mount Grace), the new name for one of them or a completely new club? Which team's ground do you play at, or are you at a new ground?

I seem to remember that we have been here before and got the tee shirt, it is not possible to issue a whole seasons fixtures at the start of the season because of all the cup competitions, in particular County Cups which take preference over league games, it would be a nightmare. Why can't you just accept it, what's the point or the big deal in knowing that you are going to the delights of Oxhey Jets or London Colney in April at the start of the season.

Cant say it really bothers me, my team play in a league where all the fixtures for the whole season are given before the start of the campaign, yes there are alterations due to postponements, cup runs etc. but a good fixture secretary can deal with these and adjust. Is handy to know in adavnce to arrange transport etc, also makes the season a lot easier to plan if you know you have a tough month in March, can gear your training towards that etc and peaking for the important games. In my opinion just makes the league look two bob in the fact that they are unable to organise a seasons fixtures like every other league in the country at this level.
