So referring to the guy that the Claret fans fondly refer to as "Big Fat Jeff" as, er... fat, is abuse is it?

Lighten up LF or we may have to remove your moderator status on here. Oh, hang on...

Not really LF...More tounge in cheek, I would say.

There have been a couple of "Basilricay" and "North Basildon" comments on the Sloppy Box... I find them amusing as well as being mildly annoying as, being a resident of Billericay, I wish to forget or at least lose the acknowledgement that our local council is Basildon. A local council that does very little for the town...except fleece us for Council Tax...I take those comments as they are meant, to get a reaction.

On the whole, the majority of 'Ricay supporters have let those comments "ride". This time of the season, it's time to get a "thicker skin" and not react...Which the majority of both sets of supporters have done.

My advise...keep quiet, don't react, see what happens. It's been a fantastic season so far...lets enjoy the last two games and celebrate whatever they bring.

One point I will make is, that Chelmo supporters have quite a few "pet" names for other clubs that would indicate a lack of respect for the opposing club as well as their supporters. Heybridge's nick name would be one that comes to mind..."The Village", I think is the reference. There are others.

Really, glass houses and stones.

As a neutral i'll step in and referee this one.

Having visited both clubs, you are both a friendly lot and all the internet numpties (like myself) disappear into the sea of your/our clubs colours and like at most games you get good hearted banter and loud untroubled rivalry.....You do have segregation don't you? grin

Enjoy boyz and may the best teams on the day win

I agree with your comments above. I would hate to segregation at any Billericay / Chelmsford match. We had it at MP at AFC's request following thier problems at Bromley. The AFC fans were great and I couldn't understand why the request was put in. Although you have to repect the clubs assessment and decision in these respects.

Part of the non league scene is being able to freely mix at matches with other fans, and take kids/ family without fear (?)

No unlike the football league play offs the ryman actually give an advantage to the team finishing higher in the league by making it a one off game at the team who finished higher in the leagues ground.

That is of course subject to that team booking the ground and not having a level of arrogance were they believe that such things as booking their ground for the play off final is unnecessary as due to their arrogance they belive that the league would be won by around March ahh well they can also come back and squat again

C'MON "c'mon ricay" - give it a rest! I'm sure the arrogant person who thought the league would be won by March has now learned his lesson and is fully repentant. After all, he was only being stupid enough to emulate your manager's comments the season before with regard to your goodselves (yes Gazza, you can get that hoe out again if you like).

Anyway, the booking of MP is in no way connected with potential matches which may, or may not, need to take place there. In a nutshell, the Athletics Club ALWAYS have priority over football, and therefore if the stadium is unavailable for playoff matches (IF REQUIRED), it will be due to athletics usage, and NOT because we thought it wouldn't be needed!

Now, pour yourself a nice cold beer (as I have just done), and CHILL OUT!
