I suppose we were well overdue a bit of a stinker, it's just a shame it's happened now.

 

We afforded Carshalton far too much space in the first half but to give them credit they passed it through us really well particularly down the flanks where our full-backs were often left badly exposed by a lack of midfield cover. We looked better once we had thrown caution to the wind but I think the result was a fair one overall.

 

I thought Dorms was once again our best player. He seems to be playing a captain's knock every game now. Well done to him, let's hope the others can pick their form up for what promises to be an exciting game next week. It's important to remember after a bad result, that there is still plenty to play for and that the players and supporters mustn't lose heart.

 

I think the outcome of Tuesday's Hampton/Harrow game could have quite a big impact on our approach to the Bromley fixture but whatever I'm sure it will be a good game.

We defended really badly throughout and deserved to concede at least 3 goals. Overall the first half performance was very poor. Second half was much better, although frustrating, as if we'd attacked that way throughout the game, we probably would have had at least a draw. Hodges has to start next wk imo.

 

When we went 3-0 down i said i didnt want to lose 3-2. So annoying that thats how it ended up. Ive seen us lose 3 times away this season, and theyve all been coming from behind to lose 3-2. Funny old game. Still, encouraging to see us keep going til the end. Just a shame we didnt start playing earlier.

 

Anyways, its not all over. Disappointing, but theres still a shot at the title, and if not that then the play offs. Next Saturday is the biggest game of the season, and its not faraway, so lets have a lot of people there cheering on the lads, and win lose or draw, lets give them our full support as theyve given us a fantastic season so far.

We never win at Carshalton... at least I can't remember ever winning there... Didn't really get going until the final quarter of the match and had we got back on terms it would have been harsh on Carshalton who played some good stuff. It was a very young team (5 teenagers by my reckoning) and perhaps a lack of experience cost us a bit. Be interesting to see who plays at Bromley, I thought all 3 subs did well when they came on.

things looked a lot more positive for us when Hodges came on. We need him to play at Bromley. Their pitch is perfect for his game and he can create a lot of things for nothing. I know many think he is better coming off the bench as an impact player, but i would rather he cause an impact from the start, make a goal and then put his feet up in the dug out for the last 15mins.

I think we need to bear in mind when Hodges was all over it in the last 20 he was given a completely free role with zero defensive responsbility. He was accommodated by us playing only three defenders.

 

If we believe that our other three midfielders can cope with Bromley's four then that's fine, if not I wouldn't start with him.

And here's a fascinating fact (now the pain is starting to subside!) - at one point on Saturday afternoon us, Chelmsford, Southend and West Ham were ALL 3-0 down ! I wonder what odds you'd have got on that happening ?

It appears finisterre wasn't the only one getting the score wrong
