Nothing about that on the official site (from the original news story) but seeing as a reason they gave was that they would benefit because of the European cup being help in Austria (in 2008, may I add), and plus the publicity they have got this season, one would expect them to sponsor us again next season.

Unless we have something better up our sleeves I would have thought it would be wise to accept whatever was offered.

Worst kept secret in the world, when even C.G. starts to suspect that the club have another sponsor lined up you know that someone has let the cat out of the bag.

I know how you feel, CG, have just brought shirts for my three boys adding up to £82, if the club aren't telling anyone how is the lady in the club shop goibg to know to warn people that it might be better waiting. Can I just add that the service I received in the club shop was fantastic on saturday, very helpful.

Is this available to view anywhere?

It's obvious why the club haven't accepted this offer - Mister Ham Man has trumped them.

At the Club's sparsely attended recent AGM, all Jason would say (quite reasonably) was that the Club was talking to Austrian and one other possible sponsor.

My understanding is that Austrian (a willing sponsor for a further season) have been ditched without a firm alternative sponsor in place and that the other possibility is currently only speculative. Presumably the directors know what they are doing. The time to discover whether this is so will be just before the beginning of next season and when eventually shareholder's seek evidence of exactly how much more lucrative another sponsor turns out to be (if at all) rather than what Austrian had offered. It may be that the hoped for new sponsor has much deeper pockets that it is prepared to mine for the well being of the Club. Who knows?

The predominent current new breed of sponsors in football are gambling companies. As the league is being sponsored by such a company next season it will be assumed that they will not be happy to have a rival sponsor individual teams within its own league, especially as TV coverage will be greater. Hopefully we are not in discussions with a gambling concern.

The Club have a lot to thank Austrian for as they stepped in at the 13th hour as our sponsors, but at the moment such gratitude is actually hard to detect.

Hopefully the Club will put out a statement shortly and explain the reasoning behind its decision.

I feel sorry for those fans who will be expected to shell out for yet another change of shirt next season. There can't be more than one or two other Conference Club's who have had so many frequent changes as the Fleet.

I'd say that's their own tough luck if it does happen. Do Blue Square have a monopoly on gambling? Did Nationwide have a monopoly on financial concerns? I think there were plenty of mortgager companies, insurance companies and building societies sponsoring Conference sides over the last five or so years.

So any new sponsor may still decline the offer and pull out - leaving our directors with a lot of egg on their faces.

If this happens, I presume Austrian wouldn't want to know now, leaving us again without a sponsor.

Of course, this is all speculation - no one, apart from club officials has seen this press statement.

We fans as usual will be the last to know.

Ok, I will through a cat amongst the pigeons, I have heard that Llanera, a spanish property company who have offices in Maidstone and sponser Charlton, would be interested in sponsering other clubs in the area, and maybe the Fleet might be in with a chance of getting their names on the shirts. You would have to hope that the Directors do have other irons in the fire if they have turned down the offer of another year with Austrain.

:-)
