Wingeing Clough

Recommended Posts

I see Nigel Clough has made an outburst about the standard of refereeing in the Conference and claims that poor decisions may well cost Burton Albion a play-off place.

Perhaps someone should tell him that whilst the standard of refereeing is poor (mostly) it is not something that is unique to matches featuring Burton. Other clubs have suffered as well, the 'Fleet being no exception, and have just got on with it.

In any case I am sure that whilst most clubs may have suffered from a poor decision or two in individual matches, over a season things tend to level out. Someone has to benefit from those bad decisions after all.

Seems strange he has left it this late in the season to start moaning. The standard of refereeing in the conference has been sh*te for years. Sounds like he's trying to put the refs under pressure to get some decisions. clutching at straws.

What do you mean, you thought I was going to say Mr T Kettle?!?

Agree seen him in action a couple of times, and in general he has been pretty good, even with crap linos. to be fair to a lot of refs they do not get much help from there assistants, whom just seem to follow the refs lead and point the flag the same way.Rather than make a decision of there own

Excuses, Excuses ...

He is almost trying to get himself a get-out clause (if that's the right term) in case his side don't get to the play-offs.

How many poor referees have we had this season? It's the same for every team so he shouldn't say it'll cost his side a play-off spot, perhaps he should stop and think that the Burtons performances, especially at when they played us at Stonebridge road, when I felt they were awful, have cost his side a play-off spot.

I don't remember too much attacking brilliance from us that day either, maybe NCBA and us will both look at that day as one where we both spurned the opportunity to push on for a play-off place.
