Don't forget your chequebook!

Hang on a minute DOY.

The official version is as follows:

The club would like to offer our supporters the chance to make a potential saving on the price of their 2007/8 season tickets. Ticket prices have been frozen for all season tickets purchased prior to Saturday 5th May.

Prices for a 2007/8 season ticket purchased before May 5th will therefore be as follows- the prices are then given.

What is the fee for next year from 6 May? How much are the match day fees? Why not give us all the full picture? Fees frozen until the day before the final of the play offs!

If premiership teams can freeze prices, or even reduce them, then should we not be following in their footsteps?

To be fair you can't really expect the club to decide admission prices until promotion has or hasn't been achieved. They wouldn't want to tempt fate!

I would guess Town will pitch in with a price of around £8.00 per match next season if we do gain promotion. That's what Harrow Borough are charging this season. I hope the decision makers at Town don't out price the new supporters that the club will be needing to attract at the higher level.

There is a number of ways you could argue that DoY. One is that they are hedging their bets and hope to retain the more regular fans into the new season. Another is that the cash is effectively a loan over the summer months to tide the club over until the new seasons sponsorships click in. Some go to the bank others go to the fans. Providing we go up the loyal fans get a nice reward for their loyalty! The ones that should have done best are the 10 year season-ticket holders @ lkess than £5 a game.

So why decide now then? your first point appears to be a contradiction in terms. We can't expect the board to make a decision, but they already have!

The club have only made the decision to offer an incentive for fans to cement their commitment now for 'Potential' savings. The statement on the website does not elude to them having decided on the admission charges for next season. I'm sure this will only be decided on completion of this current campaign.

Charlton Athletic have come up with an ingenious incentive for their fans to renew their season tickets for next season. They have decided that fans who pay now for the 2007/08 season will recieve a free season ticket for the 2008/09 season of the club are relegated this season and go back up to the Premiership at the first attempt.

In addition to being what appears to be an opportunity to reward long standing supporters for their loyalty, surely this is simply about ensuring adequate cash flow to fund all of those out of season activities (eg pitch works) that can't be offset by gate receipts and other income streams.

My guess is that if the club achieves promotion, people will be kicking themselves for not pursuing the opportunity. Even staying at level 4 it looks like a good deal!

Unfortunately, there isn't the offer of a lucrative Far East summer tour to keep the money rolling in!
