having only started watching the rebels again after nearly thirty years i would be interested to know who the fans consider their main rivals ,when i was young and used to watch the slough with my grandad he always used to go on about wycombe being the team to hate,i would imagine thats changed after wycombe going up the leagues, so who is it now?

Depends who you ask I suppose. I never got to see a Slough-Wycombe league match, and it's a shame it's gone as I think non-league lost one of its bigger derbies in the mid-90s. I hear that Wycombe still sing about us though and there was a survey done fairly recently where fans of all the League clubs were asked about their traditional rivals - and Wycombe still put us top, ahead of Colchester.

Apart from that it's Maidenhead and then more recently Windsor for me (it does help that we're groundsharing though). I am looking forward to the local games next season assuming we're in the Southern, but don't think I could ever call Burnham, Bracknell and Beaconsfield rivals in the same way as the others.

Surprisingly we never say walton and hersham yet they keep flipping beating us. I've never forgiven them for beating us in the amateur cup final after nicking our best player.

I suppose its because they haven't got any fans!!

You couldn’t beat those derbies with Wycombe, particularly the year they went up and we ran them fairly close under Dave Kemp (I think). Such a charged atmosphere with literally thousands in the ground. I’ll never forget that Ian Hazel volley against them at home; the place erupted and yet his celebration was so nonchalant. I seem to remember the away game was sold out and you had Slough fans up on that hill next to the ground trying to watch. They were the sort of fixtures the club were able to draw fans away from the big games in town as you’d always see faces at them that wouldn’t normally go.

I have to say personally I always disliked Woking more.

Cheers

Mark

Barry Scott has it right. Those games against the Scum back in the day is what has left me devoted to Slough ever since.

Agree Wycombe, but for me second has to be Aylesbury. Anyone else remember the chants of I'd rather be a rebel than a duck? All others are just local sides who we may happen to play occasionally, only two real rivals.

Theres only one scum, but another of my favourite (love to hate)rivals are Sutton Utd.Remember winning the championship there last game twenty odd years ago or even the so called battle of Gander Green Lane in 1967 amatuer cup replay. Not forgetting the football league new boys at Dagenham
