Setanta: showing Nationwide Conference Blue Square games

 

LONDON - Irish pay television network Setanta Sports has signed a deal with the UK Nationwide Conference Blue Square League to screen 79 games a season for five years.

 

The network will broadcast Nationwide Conference Blue Square matches, play-offs, and the Conference Cup competition, which will be renamed the Setanta Sports Cup.

 

Setanta Sports will broadcast the live games on Thursday nights.

 

Trevor East, Setanta Sport's director of sport, said: "This is a great deal for Setanta and the Conference Blue Square League. There is huge interest in Conference Blue Square football in towns and cities throughout England, and this deal will play an important part in Setanta's growth and recognition in the country.

 

"We will cover at least 79 games providing excellent exposure for the Conference Blue Square League and its member clubs. The Conference Blue Square package, combined with our 46 Premiership games and US PGA Tour golf, demonstrates the fact that we are building a tremendous portfolio for football and sports fans."

 

Bill King, the Nationwide Conference Blue Square League chairman, said: "We are delighted to be part of the new and growing Setanta football family. Nationwide Conference Blue Square clubs are looking forward to five years of television profiling thanks to this deal with Setanta Sports."
