Anyone attending the funeral can wear club colours if they so wish. The family would like to acknowlegde his support for the club by passing the ground, however because of the time that this is likely to happen,(as the local school finishes) it may be difficult to do so due to the congestion it might encounter, as the parents use the clubs car park.

It may be a case of asking the funeral director to use their best judgement on the day ,at the very least they should be able to stop at the top of park lane.

Friday 20th of April.

Basildon Crematorium

 

No flowers please, the family would rather see donations in Fred's name to the MacMillan trust http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Home.aspx

His family have been awesome in the pride and integrity of their bereavement, best wishes for a most sad day.

I have only just found this thread and would like to add my bit.

 

I never knew Fred the man, but Fred the Bugle was instantly recognisable. Having travelled to many away matches back in the 90's Fred made us smile, even in relegation year.

 

Gone.... but not forgotten !

Very emotional performance from the brass band today, and YES they did play JINGLE BELLS !!! RIP Fred.

Yes ! many thanks to the Castle Point Brass Band, Dad would have loved what you played today, I'm glad Mum was there to witness it all, she even cheered when Canvey scored !

 

The Abbott family would like to thank all at Canvey FC for all their support and kind words at this difficult time, we would also like to thank all the supporters and players that attended the funeral, they should consider thenselves fortunate enough to see David Tudor deliver a truly wonderful service to a capacity crowd ! A perfect send off ! Dad would have been proud !

 

Dad's Bugle has been given to the club so it can be dislayed in the clubhouse .

In the next few weeks all the kind donations taken at the funeral and resent matches will be put together and a grand total will be posted on this site so watch this space.

Money is still being collected for Fred (Dad),so far just over £1100!!! has been raised.

Stibbards will be sending the money to the chosen charities in about a weeks time, so if you've been meaning to make a donation but haven't got around to it yet, please do it asap.

Just to let you all know, Fred's wife has put a thank you note in friday's Echo (29th), with all the details regarding donations.
