Margate reserves were fantastic tonight, the bossed the game from start to finish. It was SCS that was sent-off so he will miss a few games now. Wiskers and Axons goals were superb. The highlight for me was when their number 5 headbutted the advertising boards in the first half.

What was on paper a tough encounter for the reserves proved anything but. In the 5th minute Dan Wisker did an acrobatic overhead bicycle kick into the back of the net (obviously taught to him by his dad ;)) to put them 1 up. Then in the 13th a flick on by Kiron Morris to Karl Barron resulted in his shot just going over the bar. Then in the 18th minute Paul Axon fired in a terrific shot which the VCD keeper tipped over the bar. However 2 minutes later we went 2 up when Alan Heath climbed and headed the ball down for Barron to hit into the net his 5th goal in 6 games I believe? Nick Bagley then hit in a great corner which Wisker met but the ball was cleared off the line by a VCD defender. Then in the 43rd minute SCS hit a long clerance which was headed on by Heath once again finding Bagley who hit it in for the 3rd goal.

In the 2nd half Margate continued where they left off when a free kick by Axon found Bagley but his shot was blocked by a defender. Chris Lewis then came on for Barron in the 51st minute and with his first touch nearly scored when he shot wide of the left post from a Darryn Vanhindsberg free kick. Axon then went on a mazy run in the 62nd minute, threaded the ball to Lewis who in turn gave it back to Axon but his shot was blocked. A minute later Bagley was put through by Morris but hit his shot at the keeper. Morris then hit a volley just wide of the left post. In the 68th minute SCS then headed the ball outside his area but was adjudged to have used his hands too and was unfortunately red carded. Ryan Harker took over in goal and from the resulting free kick he easily saved it. Then in the 70th minute Axon scored the best goal of the match when picking up the ball on the edge of his own area he ran two thirds of the pitch with it, threaded the ball to Wisker, who could have taken a pot shot but who unselfishly pushed it back to Axon who let fly with a shot that rocketed into the top left hand corner. VCD then had their best passage of play but still didn't really trouble the defence too much and Margate nearly scored a 5th in the final minute when Lewis somehow managed to sky his shot over the bar from about a yard out. All in all a great performance once again by the lads.

Team: SCS, Stokes, Allen, Heath, Harker, Wisker, Axon, Morris, Barron, Bagley, Vanhindsberg. Subs used Lewis, Quine?? Subs not used Weatherley and two U18's

Just like to point out I thought Dan Wisker played extremely well in midfield, tackling well and linking up with the fowards, scoring a great goal. Scott was very vocal in goal which was good to see. As for young Paul Axon the lad was an absolute star and didnt stop running all night as well as scoring a peach of a goal. Hope we don't lose him as one for the future without a doubt. Kieron Morris also played well again alongside Dan, which imo bodes well for the future.
