Looks like Brimsdown only need 1 more point

Recommended Posts

Looks like Brimsdown only need 1 more point to take the SMLDiv1 title. They have 3 games left against Sun Postal, Hoddesdon and Ampthill.

They have 70 points after yesterdays 9-0 drubbing of New Bradwell. Stony can get 71 points but would have to improve their goal difference by nearly 60 goals.

Ampthill can get 70 points if they win their last two home matches against Kentish and Brimsdown and Cockfosters can get 68 points with 3 games remaining. Ampthill have 14 goal better goal difference than Cockfosters as it stands so 4 points should be enough to see the Cocks off although they only have to beat Arlesey, Harpenden and Cranfield.

Pressure on Stony after 2 successive defeats and 3 games to play this week against a revitalised Cranfield side, then Bedford and then, in my opinion, their toughest test against Hoddesdon, who are hoping to get that 5th spot (having applied for promotion hoping that any restructuring favours them). This still leaves Stony with 3 games to play against Kentish, Brache and New Bradwell.

All very interesting if there are only 2 promotion spots.

Who is your money on for runners up?

It looks like it is going to be Brimsdown, Stony then either Cockfosters / Ampthill for the third place spot.

Does anyone know when the resturcturing details for next year will be made public?

I've heard glowing reports about Brimmo all season so it's no surprise that they've taken the division by storm but well done to them anyway for seeing off the challenge of Stony, Ampthill, Cockfosters, Hoddesdon and all the also-rans. I guess how well they will do next season will depend on if they hang on to Gordon Boateng and the bulk of their squad. If they do, I will definitely be an interested spectator at one or two of their games next season.

Potters Bar Town - To be honest I haven't been overly impressed with Brimsdown and we took them to pieces on 14 October in the first of our three meetings this season using the Don Revie style dossier that had been put together for us. Gordon Boateng is okay but he's not a World beater and doesn't hold a candle to 'the great one' for example, he likes playing mind games and gets out of his pram big style when things start going against him as was the case on 14 October and I gather when they only drew at Bedford recently.

Nice one NewBradwell, although you should be aware that in Rhodesworld you shouldn't let the facts get in the way of the hype

TheRock099 - How the devil are you, yes we could do with Jose Fernandez onboard at the moment to get the players back in the right frame of mind. Things have very much transpired against us through no fault of our own, I'm sure I've spotted Damien Thorn in the crowd a few time since we topped the league prior to the infamous Cockfosters game on 30 December.
