I suppose that it is realistic given 20 mile walk, and 3pm kick off, but I've got to leave home at 6 in the morning to guarantee getting there for 8 !!!

Right the route is planned. I went through it yesterday and it starts off very similar to the trip to Met Police before passing some real "sights". The route I've got is not the most direct (we can't walk all the way down the A308 for instance) but it is along decent roads for walking with footpaths etc. The final distance was 17.9 miles. Full details to follow shortly.

Nope. It is hard to assess that route without walking it or cycling it first. I've gone for a road route as I've been able to drive it twice and I am fairly certain that it is a "safe" route for the likely large numbers who will be taking part. The Thames Towpath obviously makes a lot of sense and those of you who want to go that way can go for it.

Not sure of the numbers, but please let Alan Harding know if you are walking so he can save room on the coach home for those who need it. I'm going to set out the route below. I will have handouts with maps for the day itself for those who want to follow this route.

Leave Wexham Park. Turn right and head for the A4. At the Coop roundabout take the third exit signposted Datchet and Windsor. Yew Tree Road. At the next roundabout take the second exit B376 the Datchet Road signposted Datchet. This road eventually becomes the Slough road but we will be following this through Datchet. Over the first miniroundabout and then take the second exit at the second mini roundabout. This is still the B376 and is now Horton Road and will be signposted Staines and Wraysbury.

Follow this road until you reach a roundabout where you will turn right staying on the B376 Welley Road. You will soon pass Sunnymead Station.

We are now heading towards Wraysbury and following the road round this now becomes the Windsor Road but is still the B376 (which is going to be a familiar mantra).

At the end of this road we will come to T Junction with a public house opposite. Turn right onto the Staines Road B376 towards Staines. At the next roundabout go straightover and then under the tunnel. We now head into Staines town centre. Turn left onto Church Street which leads on to Clarence Street then onto Thames Street before turning left and refinding the B376 which is now called the Laleham Road.

After a while we will pass Wheatsheaf Lane on the right and this is the 10 mile marker. The road soon reverts to the Staines Road and we will reach a mini roundabout where we trun right onto the Broadway before following the road round to the left where it becomes the Shepperton Road the B376. We will now pass over the M3 and head into Shepperton. Turn right onto the High Street then at the round about turn left ontoB375 Russell Road. Next mini roundabout straightover remaining on Russell Road. We now reach a major roundabout with the A244. Go straightover onto the B375 Fordbridge Road. We will now follow the B375 right into Hampton passing delights such as Longmere Farm and the water treatment works.

There is slightly offset cross roads and we will continue straightover onto Thames Street passing Sunbury Lock. At the mini roundabout straight over onto the Lower Hampton Road. This becomes the Lower Sunbury Road. At the end of this road we will reach the T junction with the A308. Turn right before taking the first left onto Plevna Road. Follow this to the end and then turn right onto Station Road before taking the first left into the Beveree. Now have a well earned pint either on Hodgey or Dev because they just think we rock.
