eton wick merger

Their ground is of 'junior football' standard. As far as I am aware, it is a marked pitch with a metal barrier round the pitch and that is it. Were we to merge with anyone, I can't see it being anyone other than SYCOB, but I don't think anyone wants a merger of any form.

The obvious need for us as a club is a home ground as we're renting at Windsor, but none of us want a merger (or at least I would have thought 99.9% were against). We're holding out for a home back in Slough. I would like to think the town is more than big enough to sustain a club at a decent level.

I understand that part Matt, well, actually, maybe I don't!

Although a ground is a huge part of a football club in terms of revenue, identity and assets I wouldn't say you needed to worry until you got your ground, unless Windsor are kicking you out.

For example my hometown team Chelmsford City, big town like Slough, capable of having a big club - went over 10years without a ground to call their own, the council finallyobliged and the excellent Melbourne Stadium was built after groundshares at a host of other local clubs. This Fridays game with Hampton and Richmond attracted 2,000. Yet a few years back mergers and extinction was being talked about (albeit not taken seriously).

Either way hope it works out for you and all the best.

The way the attendance have dropped off this season it appears likely. However, if we have a decent competitive side next year getting some good results I would imagine we might push the average up to nearer 300 again.
