Edgware take another step towards the title

Recommended Posts

An unconvicing 3-1 win at home to bottom placed Royston, was not the big scoring victory that many thought, and that Edgware needed as a confidence booster, however, its all about the 3pts rather then the goals scored, and with Harefield winning yet again and Hertford it keeps us where we want to be TOP!

You still need 12 points out of 15 to absolutely guarantee the title by my reckoning. If Harefield drop any points you can deduct them from the 12. They may not do this the way they are going, and that means you would only have to lose one and draw one to miss out!

Looking at Edgware's reamining fixtures I think the home gamese could be the key.

Apologies to our friends from those clubs that post on this website but I would expect them to beat Biggleswade United and Langford. However Oxhey, Leverstock and Chalfont could all prove tricky opponents at the WLG.

Having said that Edgware are still in the driving seat and would be odds on favourites especially with the Hares to play Hertford twice.

I take it thats because if Harefield win their game in hand they are 4 behind us, so we can 'afford' to drop 3.

Horace, be honest mate, do you want us or Harefield to win the league, and would you not be upset to have to settle for 3rd place, when 2nd place could possibly give you a promotion place if other teams from other leagues do not meet the ground grading critia, so teams from other leagues are offered a place.

You do realise that we could win the league without kicking a ball at your place when you play Harefield on April 24th, of course this would depend on various results between now and then.

We both know that you are going to beat them by one or two points!

We'll agree to differ on this Gavin but I still think they have a point (and that's a Ruislip Manor fan talking about Harefield!)

Which is exaclty WHY I want us to win it by enough points so that it does not come into question. I still think Hertford will take something from them. Its in our own hands, and I would still rather be in our position then in theirs.

I reckon that 11 points wil do it, as we have a much better GD then Harefield, though as you say 12 will mean we cant be caught.

Harefield can only get 98pts and we can get 102pts, Hertford can get 89, so a win for us tomorrow will end your chances, had Harefield's form dipped we could have won the league tomorrow frown instead it will go to at least the next few matches
The NLP in the SSML report said we needed 9pts from 5 games, not sure how they work that out, they also said in our first season in the SSML since our relegtaion! erm we were moved 'sideways' not relegated!!!

I agree Lato, the home games could be the key, as all three of those teams could prove difficult to beat. The thing in our favour is that we tend to play better agasint the better sides recently, but tomorrow nights match with Oxhey is going to be tough and any points dropped and we could be in trouble.

Gavin - That's right but it was Chris Mitchell who wrote the report this week, normally it's Phil Rolt who does the column and he's spot on. Will you be taking in a game today or putting your feet up.

Gavin said "Hertford can get 89".

Brush up on your arithmetic, Gavin! 79 + 12 = 91.

Not that it matters much, as we will only finish third now, even if we get that.
