WILLENHALL TOWN 3 vs CAUSEWAY UNITED 1

<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />The Reds rediscovered the form which had took them to the top of the MFA, against a rough and ready Causeway side.

The first 10 minutes were evenly balanced with both sides enjoying end to end attacks. But it was the smooth passing style of the home team which broke the dead lock on 13 minutes, Jason Smith looking more settled in each game, setting up Bullimore to shot home his 18th goal of the season.

However just 11 minutes later and veteran winger Coates who can recall several spells of employment at Noose Lane amongst his many clubs, capitalised on a lapse in the Reds defence before slipping the ball under Vaughan.

The status quo lasted a mere 2 minutes as Bullimore converted a Carter cross on 26 minutes.

On 34 minutes Smith curled a goal bound free kick which was brilliantly tipped over by the keeper. Then Walker headed onto the post as the Reds piled the pressure on.

Five minutes into added time and Goodall volleyed the ball from some 40 yards out, the ball hit the underside of the crossbar and rebounded to safety.

On 60 minutes the influential Moseley saw his free kick deflected just wide by a United defender.

In a hard fought contest, it came as no surprise that there would several flashes of conflict, the worse came on 72 minutes when ex-Red Barnes smacked into keeper Vaughan, leaving the young keeper dazed and flat out. Barnes was very fortunate to receive just a yellow when most people thought a sending off was inevitable.

The third goal came on 76 minutes when Walker put a through ball to Smith who chipped the keeper from 15 yards out to cap a fine performance.

Six minutes later and Bullimore was denied a hat trick when the visiting keeper produced a brave diving save.

The game ended on a low note when 3 minutes into added time and a Causeway defender saw red after he kicked out in an off the ball incident.

The Reds visit local neighbours Wednesfield on Tuesday before visiting leaders Stourbridge on Saturday 15th Feb.
