Staines 0 Billericay 1

Recommended Posts

Another battling performance against a team that was content to spoil the game with some "european" hands on play and three officials that obviously were compliant to their style. But hey, Staines obviously were out to try and stop us, whatever and a bright bit of football from Dave Wareham opened their defence for Joe Flack to score just before half time.

I would like to say now that I thought EVERY player played hard for the cause and gave 100% but Jamie Dormer if the man of the match for me. A true captain's performance again this afternoon.

Well done to lads. applause

I suppose there isn't any chance Chris Whelpdale will be fit for Mondays game?

Loving the saracasm there bfj!

Another fine battleing performance by the lads. Dormer had a stormer in the centre of the park today and for me was MOTM. The ref once again was appauling, the tackle on whelps was a certain red! They'd obviously done their homework on who too take out! ... however i can't help having my doubts over burbo, hasn't scored in a while although he has had his fair share of chances. Should Allen be starting? after all he was bought to score us some goals come the end of the season. But i still cant fault the effort.

.. Well done lads another 3 points and we're back on top!

All about the result today. We missed some good chances early on with Burbs putting one over the bar, and Flackie hitting the post. The challenge on Whelps was a disgrace, studs showing, shin high but the referee has bottled it. 2nd half we've dug in, and although Staines have ahd a lot of the ball I can't remember Ronnie being unduly troubled.

It really is a funny old game.

Against Ramsgate I thought we were excellent and we come away with nothing, I would describe our performance yesterday as functional, but we kept at it and "filthed" a precious win. I would concur with Dorms being MOTM, I believe our captain has been leading by fine example in these last crucial games.

Three wins and a draw in our last four away is excellent and so many of the positive results have been the type of games that we would never have achieved a positive result in in seasons gone by.

I spoke to Whelps after the game and the impression I got was that it was a very poor tackle by their lad which could have led to a very bad injury. Thankfully Whelps didn't have his own leg on the ground and he may be even be fit for Monday.

The officials were dire but when you play step 7 you get step 7 officials I'm afraid.

See East Thurrock won 3-0 yesterday, I've seen them 3 or 4 times this season and they can play well. It will be a tough game for us on Monday.

Well done again to our lads, keep battling and let's see what happens......

The back four gave yet another exceptional performance.

We took 20/30 minutes to get a grip in midfield but Hunter and particularly Dormer worked so hard to dominate the second half.

Whelpdale was taken out of the game early with a nasty challenge and Wareham, despite several quality crosses, seemed to get increasingly frustrated.

Joe Flack thoroughly deserved his goal and ran nonstop for 90 minutes – Burbridge played his usual unselfish game, holding the ball up or supplying flicks behind their defence.

It is amazing to me, as someone involved at the club but who doesn’t get to see all the football, what an effective unit we have become this season – the team spirit is infectious and that’s why our supporters are so positive with their support.

I think that hits the point right on the nail. We have some exceptional young talent at the club but the most exceptional is the "team spirit" and the ability to work as a unit.

Goes to prove that you do not need loads of cash to get a performing, league title challenging team. The right mixture of talent, hard work, team spirit and the right attiude to hard work and graft.

"Goes to prove that you do not need loads of cash to get a performing, league title challenging team."

or to put it another way:-

"Ricay have proved in the last year that they need no bundles of cash to continue to generate their particular brand of magic".

Wait a mo! hasn't someone else said something similar to that

before?

Yet another one of your "hidden message between the lines - without mentioning any names" postings Gazza! Well done!

I dunno BC...there are a few more teams than yourselves that have flashed the cash this season, so whatever "hidden message" wasn't aimed at just yourselves....Not everything I post on this board has a "hidden message" aimed at CCFC.

Perhaps you should just stop being paranoid...I wasn't knocking anyone team...just celebrating the fact that our team have shown a great attitude from the manager right down to the players, non playing staff, volunteers and supporters.

A great comment in the Non League paper letters editorial...it was aimed at AFC Wombledon but it applies to a certain other team. The letter said, "it's the team that gets the most amount of points on the table, not the team with the biggest support, that wins the league".

Me? PARANOID? - you must be joking. A more cool, calm and collected individual you couldn't hope to meet!

If you check my past postings, you'll note that I've been the first to admit that I think your lads are cooly and calmly playing their way to the title - no large cash injections; no "big name" players (or more precisely, players with a Conference pedigree); no BBB comments from your supporters - just honest, good, solid, workmanlike performances from your squad, who are consistently (well, almost) grinding out the results.

But it's not over yet is it? - we both need Hampton to drop a few points during the run in, and see where that leaves us.

Agreed, another good workmanlike performance. Having struggled so much earlier in the season to get points away, its great to see us pick up a few wins. Away record is now 7 6 6, which isnt too shabby considering. Cant really single out any player for a MOTM performance, but well done to Flack for a nice coolly taken goal. Nice ball through from it from Wareham too. I was a bit worried about having no goals from the front in the last four games, but thats eased my fears somewhat. Could well have had more goals too, Burbrudge missed a great chance, and we hit the bar too.

Anyway, 3 points is all that matters, so well done boys, will need to be up for it v ETU tomoorrow too. C'mon you blues!
