Reserves Vs Sittingbourne

Think it finished 3-0 to the gate res. TaffyAlan was taking notes to post them up. Gate could have had 10 very poor Sittingbourne side but very young as Margate are. Kenny Pratt has done his hamstring again and talking to his Dad looks like it is going to need surgery, Shame because him and Barron are striking up a good partnership. Paul Axon had another good game and looks comfortable on the ball and things look good for next season if they bring a few up to first team.

Are you sure it was Kenny Pratt's Dad Tony? As when I was talking to him last (Kenny Pratt's Dad) you did not seem certain that it was him. wink

you pair of dicks. who does'nt know who they are talking to?

F-cking pair of dimwits Yes it was Kenny's dad and yes he will probably be out the rest off the season with this reacuring hamstring problem. He said he might have to have surgery to get it sorted now otherwise it could be there for good. He thinks its a blood clot formed that needs to be removed.

By the way Dan my side u13s won the kent league cup this mourning beating Ashford Borough 5-0 f-cking superb football think they would probably beat Margate first team at the moment.

Bit late but here goes on my report on yesterdays game.

Margate reserves came out of the traps with guns blazing from the off. They took an early lead in the 5th minute when Kenny Pratt, who went of injured at half time with a hamstring injury, burst thro on the left and hit a shot past the Sittingbourne keeper on his near post. Sittingbourne then had their best passage of play throughout the game with a fine free kick in the 13th minute which Damian Rowlands tipped over the bar and in the 19th minute when their number 9, probably their best player, nipped in from a backheader from Alan Heath but his shot was comfortably saved Rowlands. Then a minute later Margate increased their lead when Alan Heath rose to head in a Darryn Vanhindsberg cross atthe far post. Then the rest of the half was virtually all Margate, Pratt was clean through in the 24th minute but hit his shot at the keeper, then in 36th minute a lovely mazy run from Karl Barron ended with his shot thumping the crossbar. Then in the last 5 minutes of the half Kiron Morris had two chances firstly hitting a half volley judt wide of the right post then on the stroke of half time he hit a lovely cross from Paul Axon which the keeper tipped over the bar.

Chris Lewis came on for the injured Pratt at the start of the second half but this seemed to make no difference to Margate. Morris received a through ball over the top of the Sittingbourne defence but hit his shot wide of the target. Sittingbopurne then had a rare attack when their No 11 hit a great shot that hit the bar. This seemed to galvanise Margate again and Barron pushed a through ball to Lewis who hit his shot at the keeper. Then on the hour, the hard working Morris had a header just wide of right post. Three minutes later Margate increased their lead when Vanhindsberg broke through and coolly hit the back of the net past the Sittingbourne keeper. Barron then was clean through but managed to hit the ball high over the bar. Vanhindsberg then headed the ball just wide of the left post then after another mazy run he hit the ball wide of the right post. Lewis then had a tussle with the Sittingbourne No 5 in the area and managed to get the ball to Paul Axon who threaded the ball across the front of the Sittingbourne goal but nobody could get on the end of it.

All in all a fine display from the lads whick Mark and Paul must be proud off.

Team: Damian Rowlands, Tony Newman, Dan Allen, Alan Heath, Ryan Harker, Andrew Weatherly, Paul Axon, Kiron Morris, Kenny Pratt, Karl Barron, Darryn Vanhindsberg. Subs used Chris Lewis (Pratt, Dan Stokes (Barron). Subs not used Dave Cowell, Olti Kecki and Saul Anderton

A good report TA I like the front two I have heard a lot about the youngsters here, the run from Pratt for the goal was excellent and the run from Barron top class that deserved a goal, Morris v/good likewise several others. MW & SM must have some of the best young talent around let’s hope they develop them carefully.

Have heard Folkestone were at the game looking at Pratt & Barron does anyone have any news, we don’t want them going there mind you why would they want to!!!!!

I don't get to see reserves games on Saturday because I watch all the 1st team away but from what I've seen on Tuesday nights up at Hartsdown of the reserves I'm really impressed by it all. The setup is good, the management excellent. Same with the u18s. There's some good players in there and its nice to see the likes of Axon, Vanhinsburg, Keci and Anderton making it into the reserves squad as well as turning out for the u18s. I hope these lads have the sense to stay with Margate next season and try and better themselves because we are I believe now starting to see a group of young players here who with the right work put in could become first teamers within a year or two. I think Barron and Pratt should be in and around the first team next season. Hopefully Trotty invites them to first team training.

Believe me Porka, the best one is yet to make the break through from the U18's. He as the Milwall scout raving about him and a number of other teams watching him.
