Haworth nearly made a bigger name for himself in added time. Clean through but with only the keeper to beat but scuffed his shot.The ball went agonisingly close to going over the line but in the end was easily cleared with no gate player following up. Shame really as when he came on he was the star in a poor side.Haworth showed how to chase & fight for the ball & not give in. Sometimes good attractive football isnt always enough when we need to grind out results especially when those players cant SEEM to be bothered or cant make a telling pass anymore.

Believe me Chris,for whatever reason I forgive him because he was by far the biggest workaholic out there.Its just a pity though that it couldn't have gone in all the same. Mind you what a massive miscarriage of justice that would have been.

Remember the back of last season when we had a keen get up and go for it player ( Lee Protheroe ) oh how a few months can make such a differance . One of the players that should take a good look at himself , Quality on the day and he know`s it .

And replace him with who though? Recent form has been appalling. Hockton and Pinnock have shown what good players they are over the season.But the team as a whole is no better than Ramsgate's, who have nowhere near the budget of the Gate.

Just spending money on salaries of x conference players has not worked.IMO you need a nucleus of hungry young local players.
The best thing to come out of this season may be the reserve team being reformed.

Ramsgate have shown there are plenty of good local players.
The attitude from some that players from a lower level of football can not be good enough for the gate is wrong.
Paul Benson was playing for White Ensign in the Essex Intermediate league last year. This year he's heading for div 2 as the Conferences leading scorer.

Actually I thought he has been the midfield anchor we have missed when others have occupied that position. Plus he has netted some good goals. Also Trotty should take some credit for moving him to the centre from right back.

 

As for Haworth, he really looked like a good striker today. Could there be a glimmer of hope? A Hockton/Haworth partnership to take us up next season? Perhaps not this season: the malaise is too bad to be cured that quick.

 

Pinnock plays too deep and turns his back to goal when he gets the ball, so although he is a willing lad he doesn't count as a striker.

 

We haven't had a good strike pairing since Collins/Braithwaite. If it works it will certainly get the fans through the turnstiles. But we will have to find a way of getting the ball upfield, which seems to be our problem at the moment.

 

I agree with RayW about the younger players. We have brought some through who are showing good promise (Smith/Bagley), but the more experienced players have got to make them feel part of the team.

 

It is no good having dressing room cliques. Trotty will have to distance himself from his mates if he is to be a successful manager, because otherwise the younger players are going to believe the manager's pals will always be favoured above them.

Whatever it is that has caused a side of such Quality to take such a dip in form is something we won`t find out . We all know what this team can do because we have all seen them do it this season and a few of us even said they were a better team than the conference side we had , i for one thought that after watching some breath taking football that was played on the floor with both wingers running the opposition ragged setting DH & Pinns up week after week .

At the moment its all gone and its gutting not knowing why its happened at such a crucial time of the season , its as though all that fantastic footy we saw did`nt matter , sitting on top of the league did`nt matter , or is it that clubs got wise to what we were doing or has this league got much harder .

Chris1 you can tell by the body language of Proths that he`s not happy , and i am dissapointed with the way he`s been playing but when you are playing mid one week defence the next then on the bench then made Captain then dropped for chucking your shirt on the floor when you`ve been subbed knowing you were playing ok you would be Pi..ed off , and thats the season of just one of the players . SETTLED SQUAD PLAYING IN NATURAL POSITIONS EACH WEEK MEANS A MORE SUCESSFUL SQUAD at the end of the day.

thanks for the comments alex, its brought tears to my eyes that you care that deeply for me.

as for being jealous, no mate (i'll call you mate as i feel a great connection between us). yes youve got more fans and more money than us but you forget, most of our players have come from sunday football and the kent league beeing watched by a man and his dog. we play for the respect and the belief of our fans. we are not only a team, we are a bunch of mates that will fight and die for each other on and off the pitch,(excuse the irony of being so called thugs and holligans). this is the difference between us. how much passion and honour do your players play with, or are they more bothered about picking up their wages at the end of the game.

maybe mick, and i say maybe, you are the ones that are jealous. you've only got to look at what we've acheived in the last 3 years to aprreciate that off the pitch, yeah we are not as big as margate, but on the pitch we are level par with you.

and yes it would be a great acheivement to finish above you in our first year in the same league, that just shows how far we have come as little old ramsgate.

anyway my new buddy, my old pal, i'll see you tomorrow at 3pm
