Scarborough

Very sad indeed. Hope something comes along and saves the club. Wonder what happened to all that money they made from the Chelsea game several years ago?

Very, very sad.

Went to Scarborough in our first Conf Nat season - great day out.

When you look at it I suppose it confirms in some ways Canveys decision to drop further down the pyramid so as to continue with a viable club.

Scarborough whose circumstances are slightly different have continued to struggle although it seems a lot of the damage had already been done.

Hope the club and fans manage to sort it out.

It does seem strange that the money from the Chelsea game has gone. But maybe because they tried to tough it out and not drop down, unlike us, maybe that will be the end of them.

The thing is, if they had the money from the fans, then maybe there might be a way out but they haven't coz they don't have it either. This also means that it probably puts an end to the chance of them being 'resurrected' as a new club after like Telford. You need some sort of financial backing to even get that off the ground and running.

  • 1 month later...

Scarborough`s problems continue and they have applied to play in the Northern Counties East League next season which i think is the same level as us.

Scarborough Borough Council officers have now rejected Boro’s plans to relocate to a new stadium. In spite of a cabinet decision in January to allow the lifting of the restrictive covenants under certain conditions, they have decided not to put the club’s proposal to the members of the Council for ratification. Without this the club faces liquidation. The Council have indicated that they will consider exercising their rights to buy the ground and this should allow the club to move back to the McCain Stadium at some stage.

Following consultation this week with The FA and the relevant leagues, we were asked to submit an application to join The Northern Counties East League as a new company. Contrary to reports this had not already been done. The new club can enter into a temporary ground share until we are able to move back into the McCain Stadium. On this basis the FA will allow a ground share. We are anxious, as are The FA, to preserve our thriving Football in The Community Scheme and continue the work done with youngsters of all ages in The Borough of Scarborough. Hundreds of parents in the Borough know the importance of the work that is done and we are anxious to preserve it.

Ian Scobbie has contacted both The Supporters Club and The Seadog Trust and asked that, in the event that the club is liquidated next week, everyone sits down on Wednesday to discuss the constitution of the new company and decide on the roles that Supporters Club and Trust can perform as well as ownership structure.

We sincerely hope that the Council can achieve this for the club and for our part have to take the opportunity to create a new exciting community based and owned club going forward, free of the financial restraints that have dogged us since falling out of The Football League.

Is that league not below Unibond Division One? I might be wrong.

Scarborough`s court case has been adjourned for 8 days so they still have a chance to save themselves.

While this is good news for Scarborough there are a few clubs waiting to here Scarborough`s fate because it will have an impact on what league/division they play in next season, Wealdstone and Kings Lynn would be the clubs likely to forced to change leagues and neither club are happy.

The 2-1 win away with 10 men on a Tuesday night was nothing short of legendary! Last minute cross by Conroy, dropped by keeper to the feet of Minton to score!
