Down Down Deeper and Down - Good Luck MFC part IV

Well, my unbeaten run extends into game number IV. Lets hope our trip to Slough isn't going to be a case of poison IV!

Our hosts have already fallen out of the Leagues trap door and are heading for the lesser reaches of the Ryman or BSB Leagues. Their destiny was confirmed with a 9-0 mauling at the hands of AFC POINTSBACK last week and as far as we are concerned they should not cause us any problem!

WRONG! Though they have lost their relegation battle they are going to make it tough for us. No mistake! It is often true that relegated sides play their best football when their fate is known. People say it is precisely because they ave nothing to play for - the pressure is off! They can go and give it their best shot, and if they lose , well no-one will think any worse of them. But if they win, well.......

And then there is the pride issue. No-one likes a 9-0 thrashing and you can be sure they will play all the better on Saturday.

As for us, the pressure is on, WE HAVE IT ALL TO DO, we cannot afford to drop points if we want to be in with a shout in the play-offs! The expectation is that we have to win it ( and we MUST win it!).

But what quality we have in our team. We have the players for the task - we have the players who will help to maintain the status quo (Go on, say it, you knew I had to use those words given the title of this thread!)

Whether it is Charlie or SCS we have proven talent in goal!

Sappleton and Trott, Oates and Skinner, Jackson - strong in defence and key players giving good attacking width.

Protheroe and super Jay, with Standen and Smith in support, powerhouses of a midfield

and guys who can finish - Pinnock and Hockton with the talented Bagley and evergreen Haworth causing real problems for any defence. Even the guys on the verge of the team give their all if they are given a chance!

Well, IF WE WANT THE PLAY-OFF's we have to treat Slough Town with respect and we have to WIN. Treat them as if they are Chelmsford , expect a tough game, play to our strengths. Forget that we have to play that other mob on Monday!

We can win it and we will win it. The score doesn't matter as long as we win and we play as if we will win the play-offs! I have no doubt that we are good enough- just go and do it! GO AND DO IT!!

We , the fans, are all with you on this . Go to it! From the kick-off get at Slough and chase them off the park. After all, Slough Town's anagram is Tough 'n' Slow. Don't give them an inch and give them the run around and we will have the right momentum going into Monday.

So go on the 'Gate, make Slough Town "roll over, lay down"!

Abdullah, Parfitt and Rossi!
