Charlie Mitten's 1st half save against Billericay

Just thought that I would put it on record that Charlie Mitten's first half save tonight was the best I have ever seen by a Margate keeper since Peter Peters' great effort against Tonbridge in 1954.

Deservedly the sponsor's Man of the Match

Plenty of saves are great, and that was one of them! I always think, though, that the greatness of a save relates to how important it is, and that could be the 'big one' - that kept BT out and kept us a point, and it might just be the point that gets us up. Well done Charlie!! And while we're at it, those who thought Charlie's kicking against the wind was poor were treated to an even 'poorer' display in the second half from their keeper!!

Being a sunday prem keeper and playing loads of games up Jackey Bakers,(windiest place in Thanet!)I understand how both keepers struggled with the wind. Charlie is guilty of not looking up quick enough and throwing the ball out but i must admit that that first half save was something else. The cross came over sending him one way and he had to adjust his balance to enable him to tip it over the bar. That save was harder than it looked and coupled with the fact it got us a point, its gotta be the best save i've ever seen at HDP. Well done Charlie.

I think you'll find that that observation was noticed & mentioned elsewhere already.
As for the save...brilliant.I was still disbelieving of it even 10 minutes after it was made.I'm sure however that I have seen better in the past but this one was exceptional I agree.Lets not forget some memorable "Gordon Banks",equally as good a saves by Scott earlier in the season.
We certainly are blessed with two exceptional first team keepers.

Good one Chris1 - all important saves not only for the spectacle but for keeping the team in the game (or even winning it).

As a kid my memory of the Peter Peters save at Tonbridge in 1954 is of one remarkably similar to the Gordon Banks classic and it kep us in the FA Cup, albeit only for a few days to the replay.

I'd put that in there as well but I am not brave enough to give them numbers. Nice to see Charlie in there though.

Must admit your Keeps did have a few good saves and the obvious great save. Well done.

Oh and I'm sure I speak for all of us that travelled down to Windy Margate when I say Thanks for the hospitality. Nice club with nice people.

Good luck for the future.
