Have made an approach For Chris Whelpdale.

Several clubs are aware of our young talented squad, and have had scouts at our recent games.

We have a number of young player who I believe will move on to League football, and it looks like Chris could be the second this year.

Chris is an exceptional Talent, and with the benefit of full time training I wouldn't be at all surprised if he progressed even further.

If anything does come of this, or any other offer for that matter, rest assured, we will NOT be releasing any of our lads this season

I'd be interested to hear why you don't think it's the right move Dilbert although I'll bow to your vastly superior knowledge of Welsh Wales.

A move to a side on the fringes of the League One play-offs looks like a dream move to me although granted it's not exactly round the corner and I know that at least one other club has looked at him a few times. Of course Chris is contracted but it's difficult to envisage a situation where we wouldn't let him go to play in the Football League.

Some supporters might be disappointed but for me it's great news for our club. The best way to attract talented young players is to be able to demonstrate where success at Ricay can take them. The signing of Wareham appears to have shown some incredible foresight ;~)

Have to say this is fantastic news for both player and club. Football is all about progression be it off the field or on the field, and we as a club are progressing at a rate that many would die for. This can only enhance the reputation of Billericay Town on the football map as young players with desire and ability will be looking at coming to us.

Well done to Chris, but more importantly the team that surrounds him should be congratulated if not more (from top to bottom).

In response to JL. I think a move to a local club would be more beneficial to him. Nothing against the move as The Swans have developed a number of Non League players. And Swansea is a great City (a real One) with some of the best baeches in Britain on it's doorstep. But it is a bit off the beaten track, 4 hours from Billericay depending on the big car park.

Chris is a fantastic player who works his socks off in the game. Hes the best acquisition since Nathan Elder in my opinion, and id be gutted to see him go, as hes made such a big impact in such a short space of time, and hes only 19 (i believe).

However, you cant hold promising players back, and if he were to move on id be 100% behind him and hoping he did well in the football league, just as i do with Nathan. If we have to lose good players then id like to see them play as high up the leagues as possible.

I agree with that. After sharing a table with his parents at the presentation evening it seems we are as proud of Chris as they are. Let's hope it's not as far away as Swansea for Chris or any of the other scouted players. Looking forward to seeing the lads in action again tonight.
