It is always good to outclass your opponents in such an important match and so it was despite the fact all 3 officials were Suffolk and poor. The first half it was a lone striker in the form of Ricci. Jim stood on the side with Peter counting their guns. The choir should have nipped round and got Jonah to join them in a round of Men of Harlech.

The first chance came early on after a defensive mistake by Sudbury and Ricci nipped in and the resultant cross was pushed over his own bar by a nervous defender. At the other end Sudbury won a free-kick and curled it around the wall forcing JJ at full stretch to make a spectacular save curling the ball around his own post. PC had a shot saved. JJ saved again. JJ saved the resultant corner. Jamie Nay proved he is the natural heir apparent to Stuart Snowden with a lovely long throw. Jamie then injured. You may see a pattern develop here – town player does good move – town player gets booked or injured. Jamie Nay does a lovely cross for Ricci to shoot over bar. Jamie Nay defending took a ball down (in the style of the great Crisanov for those who remember him). This boy may have come from Bamber Bridge but he can play some. David Allen forced to chase back and bring down his man just outside the box. Booked and free kick deflected for a corner. Ricci has a shot saved. Ricci heads wide. Jack Wignall goes down feigning injury and gets PC booked – I hope this wasn’t a handed down skill?

Second half and it is time for Town to move up a gear and they did and left Sudbury for dead. Outclassed. Steve Magona injured. Bryan Hammatt injured. Dean Nyman makes a lovely cross however PC did need to grow 2 feet if he was going to connect with that. Steve Magona shot over from the wing. JJ saved. Magona booked. Bastian on for Magona.

Town fans and players began to realise that Sudbury were poor as we attacked and cries of Ole rang around as Town began to showboat. First Bryan with the back heel and then not to be out done on the same move Deano did the same for the cross to be floated in and Ricci to volley it past Munson on his near post. What a sweet goal! 0 – 1 and looking all over as Sudbury continued to foul and misbehave. PC hit in front of lino and Wardley was finally booked for his troubles. Despondent Sudbury fans pour out of the gate at this point. Sudbury threw caution to the wind and made a triple substitution. The first move of Brothers number 15 was to assault Nay much to the anger of the town players. Booked! Finally a break away chance and Sudbury get lucky and score. 1- 1. Town has the moral victory if not the real one. Sudbury will not be going up unless others in the playoffs have a bad day at the office (or the officials come from Suffolk).

Well done town a quality performance!

Rymanreason always seems to be at a slightly different game to everyone else. coolsmoke

Town only played in three short 5 minute bursts in the second half, the rest of the time we were somewhat negative in style.Saying that, the 15 minutes of inticate and skillfull play that we did create should have been more than enough to see off Sudbury, who offered very little creatively and who rarely threatened Towns goal.

Our defense looks solid and combative, but our formation still looked flawed (although going to a flat back four and starting Magona at Left-Back helped),BUT why play only one up front and five in midfield.Either play Hammett up top or leave him out! He is no midfield player.I'm sure he was told to play in the 'hole',but played 90% of the game stuck in the centre of the pitch,in Rudi and velednia's area of play.Jones would have been a much better bet if we wanted a fifth midfielder.Saying that,it was nice to see two genuine wide players today (Campbell/Nyman) rather than wing/full-backs.

A good point against a Sudbury side which possessed several decent players. But Sudbury were not playing well or creating today and you have to feel we failed to capitalise by being slightly too negative and when we did click, not doing so for sustained periods.

A slight improvement both in performance and formation ffrom the Avely game.Even if the result wasn't as good.

PS..What was the Sudbury manager feeding his subs throughout the game? raw meat?? When they all came on together for the last 10 minutes their fists and feet were fling everywhere. The No 15's first touch in the game, was smacking Nay on the back of the head.

I can remember the first time we played you your supporters took great pride in telling us that any dirty play was rewarded with stiff fines. How times have changed if it had been the case today your treasurer would have made a profit alone from money taken off the players!
