England Tonight!

well done nugent.

My fonddest memory of the night was those useless tossers getting booed off at half time and thee crowd chanting Steve mclaren is a w@nker

The bloke has to go,we will never win anything under that bloke,he wasn't even a good club manager,it was only 14 months ago the boro fans were booing his team off and handing back their season tickets

to be honest mate,it's 40 years since you never won anything with any other manager in charge...did he cross your mind that those players should play as a "club England" rather than 11 ego players worried only about themselves and their bank accounts? smile

If we fail to qualify he must go, however give the bloke a chance as he is there. Wasnt my first choice by a long shot however once employed i thought about it and was quite optimistic. His record in a League are not good fact however the reason i feel optimistic is his record and management style in knockout competitions. Boro were behind on many occasions during their Wafa Cup run and he put 4/5 u top and went for it. Had previous managers had the bOllOx to do that then we may have one something in 40 years as rightly pointed out by our Italian freind!

We "Should" scrape through qualifying and lets remember not for the first time either, remember Italy and Scotland....get through the group stages and I think we could win something. We have the players that is for sure....Just thought I would add my twopenneth worth even if it means no club chairman will touch me with a bargepole now!

spring of 1994 and a top young fa tutor course said after England failure to qualify for the World cup finals in USA:"if we are not careful we'll be overtaken even by countries like Czech Republic"What the poor bloke forgot was that a country like Czech republic were twice runners up at the world cup(1934-1962)European championship winners(1976)runners up in 1996 and third in 1980.olympic winners in 1980 and runners up in 1964 and 1920.the likes of Slovan Bratislava defeated Barcelona in 1969 in the cup winners cup final and Slavia,Sparta and Dukla praha were dominant in the Mitropa Cup(anchestor of the european champions club cup) before ww2.That's the problem! You know nought about international football and never learn properly from the Hungarian lessons smile

i can't remember erikssons team or the man himself ever getting that reception from england fans home or abroad. The bloke in my opinion is a worse manager than eriksson and has won absolutly f*ck all at club level apart from 1 carling cup.His middlesboro side were torn apart in last seasons uefa cup final.

The F.A made a mistake by making sure they appointed an english manager where they shouldn't of imo,the top english clubs have all got foreign managers or managers from other parts of the british isles,we simply don't have the managers with that experience that are needed to turn a mediocre international side into one that scares the rest of the world. In all fairness the england fans just want value for money when they watch their side and to feel like the side can play well in any given match, also to look like a decent side. For the first half tonight they looked untidy, lacklustre and couldn't string more than to passes together, let alone shoot on target and all this was against the mighty andorra.

To be honest coach, the italians have just as much ego in their ranks as the english players, most of the top leagues players are full of ponces who worry more about money than playing. And whatever pratt at the fa said that about the czech republic it doesn't represent the majority of football lovers in this country, most are pretty knowledgeable about world football, perhaps he just meant that after the turmoil of the split between the czech republic and slovakia (formerly czechoslovakia) that football in those two countries had to develop itself again to a certain extent after the split.

And as for not learing from the hungary lesson we won the bloody world cup about 15 years after hungary beat us at wembley you donut.

Just to say

a) We never seem to mention McClaren's oh so glorious assistant.... where he he in all this... see my post on the euro/international board

B) Players of the alleged level and ability of the Engalnd team should stuff Andora without a Manager.

Having said that not sure McClaren is the man for the job but then who is. Were Taylor, Hoddle, Keegan and Erickson all bad choices or is it more that we just aint got players with the right mentality/skills as a unit to be above average at International football?

the problem is that the F.A are not up to picking an england manager, they don't want someone who is their own man, someone who can be a little controversial, they want someone who will do as the f.a say, basically all the reasons why clough wasn't given the job all those years ago.

As one of the written press said "it took us 54 minutes to score against a very poor ski resort"

It is simply not good enough

"To be honest coach, the italians have just as much ego in their ranks as the english players,"

but as Alan Hansen said:" They have the medals to prove it"your overrated players have got [****!!****] at international level and that's where it matters!keep dreaming on...0-0 with Andorra after 45 minutes! giggle

the pratt as you call him is Colin Reid, more knowledgeable than you and with the right qualifications to talk about things. But then,it sums it up about the FA.... giggle0-0 with Andorra for 54 minutes...you're having a laugh embarrassed2

It is possible that there are exceptions but anyone earning large weekly amounts from their club is likely to rationalise that their own number one priority is to safeguard those earnings rather than bust a gut and jeopardise those earnings for the sake of whatever is provided by England...peanuts, national pride etc. Until there is a "Club England" and as long as the Premier League sucks in resources on anything like its present scale nothing will change. It'll be deja vu all over again, and again and again...
Coach has said it all really

you have got a plonker like alex ferguson worrying about Rooney performances and sticking his noose in something that shouldn't be his business, that's the problem!I'm 100% sure if you select an England xI outside the big premiership clubs, they will play and get better results than that load of rubbish that played the other night. They go on interviews trying to justify their poor performances:the truth is they don't give a monkey about it,kick them out and replace them with players that give blood playing for their country!talk the talk, that's what they are good at hanged behead
