Next seasons SSML Premier champions..Bigg Town?

Recommended Posts

Speaking to a couple of guys form Bigg Town last night, and it seems that they are have money to spend and are going for the championship next season. They will be in thier brand new ground, and have on board a couple of people who were at Hornchurch when they rose up the divisions to the conf south.

I heard that they are going to have players form Hornchurch next season swapping between the two clubs, and with Hornchurch on the verge of promtion to the Ryman prem, that would make bigg town very strong.

I also heard that the wage bill for Bigg Town is going to be in the region of £2000 a week!!!!!!

Your thoughts?

Agreed, silly money, I heard that most if not all the current players WONT be at the club next season, and that they intend to 'go for it' big time.

Thing is, would you trust the same people who were on the board of Hornchurch and saw them go belly up?

Gavin - are you the new NLP? Load of old bunkum again.

The ONE person who joined Bigg Town from AFC Hornchurch (in January) was Jon Smith who was the AFCH Managing Director - and he took over at AFCH AFTER they went pop and then went on to win a treble. So no mug Gavin.

Bigg Towns budget for next season was joked about in the Edgware Boardroom last night and Gavin has taken it literally! 2k? Ho ho ho. As for the players, well most will be staying right where they are. The last 2 months have shown that they do have the ability to be part of a promotion push squad next season, they are terrific lads and some will go on contract, such is the esteem they are held in now at Bigg Town. Same goes for the manager... so hands off!

As for AFCH players joining Bigg Town, you might expect an MD of a club to take a player or two from his old club at some time, that may happen, but as he was also involved at Bishop's Stortford one or two might come from there at some point as well, perhaps a pre-season friendly.

Gavin, have you ever thought of reviving Jackanory? Your stories are entertaining but brutally fictitious.

We were discussing the Biggleswade Town groundshare last night at Bedford Valerio United and I got the impression from what I heard that Biggleswade haven't got two happeny's to rub together and get one man and his dog at 'home' matches although things may well be different next season and the new ground becomes a magnate for the good people of Biggleswade.

Work has started - slowly. Site fencing up next week, access road etc then the frame for the clubhouse/changing rooms and the main stand goes in. A quick build time but probably not finished now until August. I'll post a pic or two soon.

The pitch has been laid for some time and during all the rains and snow stayed firm with no flooding whatsoever. Floodlit training pitch going in as well as all weather surface.

Brewery for clubhouse beers should be decided upon in a couple of weeks (most important of course!).

I see that Biggleswade Town have used this company so perhaps their stand will look something like this:

They were the seating units bought 10 years ago for the old ground. Probably will appear refurbished at the new ground for additional far-side seating/segregation area.
