Very pleasant comment on the Wivenhoe board

 

"Tonight all that can be said is Canvey should on that performance be right at the top with Hornchurch. Absolutely spot on with tactics and display, closing down quickly and working as a unit, and there was no way our boys could compete with that - although we did pretty well with 10 men, which contradicts what i've just said - but either way, Canvey well worth a promotion spot."

Looking on the Wivenhoe website for a match report (none available yet) and i notice that their player who got sent-off Jeff Shepherd lists Canvey as one of his previous clubs, can`t remember him myself, anyone else?

I noticed that too. Don't ever recall him playing for Hornchurch either.

 

Reading on their forum, they wonder whether we played the same line-up against them as we did against Bury and GWR. They're also full of praise for our no. 4... whoever that was last night!

Probably played for Hx at the time when all and sundry were playing for them just after their financial problems.

No 4 could well be Colin Wall who along with John Stuart was excellent at the back, John Stuart also caused them lots of problems by running at their defence whenever he got the chance.

Apparently Crow did play in midfield just in front of the defence with Richard Halle and Chris Bourne making up the rest of the midfield.

It was a 3-1-4-2 formation and it worked very well against Wivenhoe apart from when at 0-0 they beat our defence and Ricky had to make a brilliant double save.

Lowes has been signed on loan and is cleared to play for both the first team and reserves.
