Tonight

If you have been to Tamworth away (except the rare occasion we won) you will know what tonight was like frown

ps: I'm now wondering whats the worst day of the year. Its either fa cup 4th qualifying draw, the 4th qualifier game, or Tamworth away. Its one of those which have got to be the worst day in the fleet calendar.

Too many point losat away from home have now started to become and issue , particularly the point dropped late on atCrawley and Woking.

Last nights performance was again poor, very little stood out for the fleet.

Quinn did get dirty socks this time though which shows he is getting involved. As noted when he gave away the free kick for the first Tamworth goal.

We desperatley need to get out of this hole. Anything up at Lion Bar Boulevard or whatever its called will do. For me , I would like to see 4 or 5 good fleet performances to at least keep some intrest in this season.

I am beginning to believe that a lack of a reserve team is why we are in this hole. Hawkins just did not look fit last night, and of course he cant get match fit in the reserves as there isnt a reserve team.

Most will agree the chances of a play-off spot are remote, if not yet mathmatically impossible.

As RS said, we need to win most of our remaining games, which on present form is not going to happen.

No doubt, there will be a big inquest into what has gone well, what has gone wrong with this season.

We can take some pride from whatever our final position is, it will exceed most (in particular, mine) expectations.

My first thougths and impressions of the season are:

Not enough flexibility in playing formation - over reliance on 3-5-2 both home and away, regardless of opposition strengths and weaknesses.

Intransigence in team selection, eg, why HAS Quinny managed to start 42 matches this year, when for a good part of it he has underperformed?

Why are we still so poor in cup games?

The Trophy final was clearly attainable - it's at the new Wembley which will reap huge financial rewards for both finalists.

Why haven't the midfielders contibuted more than the 9 or so goals, to support Charlie and Luke/Onome?

Why has LD taken until recently to make substitutions early enough for the replacement player to impact on the game. 87th minute is TOO late to change the course of a game.

Why do our injuries seem to take so long to recover from?

DeBolla, Hawkins, Moore and Ricketts have all had long spells on the sidelines for seemingly innocuous knocks which, given full time training ( and full time treatment) should speed up recovery time.

I assume the reserve set up was abandoned for financial reasons. given our poor crowds that is wholly understandable.

I won't be getting into any abusive or personal attacks into LD or AK, they have far exceeded my expectations, but I still think we could and should have done better given the quality in the team.
